DSynchronize v2.39.39 Updated

billon on 18 Aug 2018
  • 1MB (uncompressed)
  • Released on 18 Aug 2018
  • Suggested by milentechie

DSynchronize lets you copy, move, or synchronize folders on your computer or over a network. The program can sync in both directions, making both folders up-to-date with the latest data, do realtime sync where any changes copied to destination and even verify it's transfers. The program can schedule operations, add timestamps to the destination folder and keep multiple backups (iterations).

If in use, the program can even eject a USB device when an operation is complete.

Latest version of DSynchronize (2.30.9) fails to run on my system (Windows 8.1 x64)- it opens and exits almost immediately. This never happened with any version prior to 2.30.9. I contacted the developer but haven't got any response so far. If he had responded I would have provided him with the dump files.

Thanks for trying. Dsyncronize has been a reliable program and the developer has been fairly active over the years. I hope he gets back to you.

Hugh0202 on 2018-05-02 14:37

Maybe I misunderstood "synchronize"? If I have a and a , I want the destination folder/tree to mirror the source. This doesn't do that.
I thought I'd use this to maintain a second copy of my digital music collection, but when I did a bunch of tagging and renaming, and use this, the destination files were not renamed. I don't expect a utility to detect if the content has changed -- I just wanted (and want going forward) my "backup" to be exactly like the original -- with extra files and folders gone, and new ones copied. This requires a "utility" because much of the change to the source involves cleaning up filenames, so drag-n-drop produces two (or more) "copies" of the same songs in the backup.

SmartSniff v2.28 Updated

billon on 25 Jul 2018
  • 135KB (uncompressed)
  • Released on 24 Jul 2018
  • Suggested by milentechie

SmartSniff is a network analysis/diagnostic tool that allows you to capture TCP/IP packets that pass through your network adapter. You can view the captured data as sequence of conversations between clients and servers in ASCII mode (for text-based protocols, like HTTP, SMTP, POP3 and FTP) or as hex dump (for non text-based protocols, like DNS).

On Win2K or above, SmartSniff is able to capture TCP/IP packets using raw sockets. This method has some limitations and problems, but it does not require any additional installation. A better way to capture TCP/IP packets is to install the open-source WinPcap capture driver, functional on Windows 98 and later.

There is a more recent version of Wireshark (portable)

Kermode on 2011-08-30 23:14

@Zadadka
No I'm not - a portable program is one that doesn't install files.

@SnowStorm:
It still isn't portable since it wants to install WinPCap

bzl333 on 2013-03-13 02:53

@kermode - it works on raw sockets in winXP SP3, so it is portable for some users at least.

OpenedFilesView v1.85

billon on 6 Mar 2018
  • 105KB (uncompressed)
  • Released on 5 Mar 2018
  • Suggested by milentechie

OpenedFilesView displays the list of all opened files on your system. For each opened file, the handle value, read/write/delete access, file position, the process that opened the file etc. are displayed. You can also close one or more opened files, or terminate the processes that opened these files. This is particularly handy when you are trying to delete/move/open a file and Windows complains that the file is "locked".

aka Muttley, try to disconnect 5 USB devices using that method and then try to disconnect the same 5 USB devices with this program. Then you'll see the difference... It's just much easier, and requires less clicks in diferent places! ;)

JCATech on 2008-09-23 20:41

I'm using this program for over 8 months without any problem.
It works great, a run an autoit script that close Pstart and other custom programs from my USB drive and then executes the USB Disk Ejector.
