Can't believe I didn't know about this app!

I was getting sick and tired of Windows going up or down in volume increments of 2%. Why can't we set the increments in Windows by default? Anyway, with this app, I can set the increment to 1% and also override the default volume media keys to use Volume2's defaults as well. Bonus is you can also use your mouse's scrollwheel on the taskbar to control the volume.

All that and it only uses less than 2MB of RAM and less than 0.2% of CPU when active. Greatly recommended!

@Ennovy v1.1.8.464 appears to be a beta version. Perhaps we should change the version back to the last release version - v1.1.7.449?

@freakazoid: Thanks, you're right! My mistake.

Streamosaur v1.0.0.1

Streamosaur is an audio recording program that records directly to disk. Streamosaur can use any broadcast from the sound card including microphone, input lines from external mixer and more. Saves in uncompressed WAV format by default, but encoding directly to MP3 (128 kbps) can be enabled.

The advantage to this software is that recordings can be made faster and easier, without drawing from a temporary file in RAM like many other recording programs. Additionally, the only limit to recording time is your drive size.

From the makers of Wavosaur.

Forgot to mention you can set the MP3 bitrate in the streamosaur.ini file.

freakazoid: in testing I was unable to modify the bitrate. I changed it but the program would change it back and files output would remain at 128.

freakazoid on 2010-10-17 05:48

@webfork - You are indeed right! I assumed changing the bitrate setting in the .ini would change the bitrate in Streamosaur. Guess I was wrong!

However, some have had success over on the Streamosaur forums: http://www.wavosaur.com/forum/mp3-bitrate-option-t765.html
