Disk Digger v1.67.37.3271

lwc on 24 Dec 2022
  • 571KB (uncompressed)
  • Released on 12 Jun 2022
  • Suggested by Andrew Lee

DiskDigger recovers files from any type of media that your computer can read. such as USB flash drives, memory cards and hard disk drives. The types of files supported include BMP, GIF, JPEG, PNG, TIFF, DOC, PDF, MP3, AVI, WMV, OGG etc. DiskDigger is not a generic undelete utility. It works by scanning through each sector of the media and looking for "signatures" of the various file types. As such, it may be able to recover certain files that other generic undelete utilities are unable to.

Note: the current version is a nagware (unlimited though), but the originally completely freeware version wasn't updated since 2012 (v0.8.3) - if needed, it can be downloaded from the original website

This software is rated highly by NoNags editorial staff. Given the number of data recovery apps here on the site, its nice to have a recommendation. http://www.nonags.com/freeware-diskdigger_3697.html

R-Undelete Home v6.7.180011

lwc on 24 Dec 2022
  • 57MB (uncompressed)
  • Released on 23 Nov 2022
  • Suggested by pplknownothin

R-Undelete recovers files from external USB disks, digital photo and video camera memory cards and other devices with the FAT (FAT12, FAT16, FAT32 and exFAT) file system. In addition, it also uses the scan for known file types, which makes R-Undelete an ideal solution for the recovery of lost digital photos, movies and music.

Note: the majority of Windows storage solutions use NTFS and ReFS, which can only be recovered with the pro version.

From their website: R-Undelete run in the free Home mode has no limitations for recovery from FAT partitions and also allows you to evaluate how the software recovers lost files from the NTFS file system, for which it has a limitation to recover files larger than 64KB. [filelist] can be previewed to estimate recovery chances before you upgrade the Home version for recovery from NTFS partitions

Seems that recovery from NTFS costs money and thus makes this application almost useless today.

I finally said to myself "Duuuuuuuuuuuuuh" ;)
Why am I wasting my time with downloading this app realising that this app is useless from a freeware point of view.
My above comment on 2017-08-25 20:17--that version never got
downloaded & I have ceased wasting my time.
I don't know for a fact that this app has always been so restrictive because I came in late on finding this app.
Perhaps if there's an earlier version for Vista that someone knows about, thats less restrictive, maybe you could share that with us.
Have a nice weekend everyone.

Guido76 on 2018-06-28 02:26

I agree Happy.Camper2's comment.
This software have a huge limitation as a freeware, and it is a wasting time to try it.
Please, stop to promote this apps !

Is this project still active? There hasn`t been any updates for awhile. Nothing for the last 2 PHP7 branches. Last update was January.

The last link is a 404 because this site removes the trailing slash. Add the trailing slash to the url.

@ReDeX I've tried SQLite Administrator for a few minutes... It comes in a zip file with needed sqlite dlls and it has no settings except language so it could be used from a USB drive. But it's not stealth, it registers itself to open .sdb files and a few others. It also has no unicode support as I can see. I couldn't find out where he stores language option setting... In trying to find that out, I have only found out that it doesn't work at all on my second computer... Don't know why though, I have genuine xp sp3 on that computer...

bro on 2012-02-08 13:49

Sorry about the off topic again...
I found out where SQLite Administrator saves settings (in %APPDATA% by default), but it checks for sqliteadmin.ini in application directory first.
