Disk Digger v0.8.3

Checker on 15 Mar 2014

DiskDigger recovers files from any type of media that your computer can read. such as USB flash drives, memory cards and hard disk drives. The types of files supported include BMP, GIF, JPEG, PNG, TIFF, DOC, PDF, MP3, AVI, WMV, OGG etc. DiskDigger is not a generic undelete utility. It works by scanning through each sector of the media and looking for "signatures" of the various file types. As such, it may be able to recover certain files that other generic undelete utilities are unable to.

Note: The latest V1.x is now nagware. As such, I have made the last freeware version (V0.8.3) available for direct download. See the comments for other download locations.

System Requirements: Win2K / WinXP
Writes settings to: None
Dependencies: Administrator rights
Stealth: ? Yes
License: Free for personal use
How to extract: Download the ZIP package and extract to a folder of your choice. Launch DiskDigger.exe.

hm... 50/50
- There is no Option for other, or all extensions *.*
(like in Recuva).
- Message error on Program Start when no Diskette in Drive A:

@ soso-lala (first point): I believe Recuva works a bit differently. This software works more like PhotoRec, looking for "signatures" of specific files types. If the softward isn't programmed to recognize a particular file type's "signature," it won't be able to recover that file type.
Of course, I may be wrong, or may have misunderstood your post...

From http://diskdigger.org/faq

Is DiskDigger free?

* DiskDigger is free for personal use. However, you are strongly encouraged to
purchase a personal license. To use the program for commercial purposes,
you must purchase a commercial license.

Free for personal use, but nagware:

# What's the benefit of purchasing a license key?

* Without a license key, DiskDigger will pop up an annoying message box that gently reminds you to purchase a key. It does, of course, allow you to continue without a key, and even proceeds to recover your files. However, it will keep popping up the message box for every file you're trying to recover. So just buy a license key already! It's a lot less expensive than comparable utilities out there.

This software is rated highly by NoNags editorial staff. Given the number of data recovery apps here on the site, its nice to have a recommendation. http://www.nonags.com/freeware-diskdigger_3697.html
