It is indeed a very nice program, if only its programmers could add more features to it like syntax highlight (for different programming texts) it would become a great tool. Yet one more thing it is missing out is telling users how many characters he has typed on one line, e.g., if anyone is writing some javascript code for some assignment :) I would say which would later be printed it would be great if char count on each line can be managed or if there is a way of knowing it. But in any case it is still a great software.

I like this program. Files are saved in text format. It is easy on the eye. Think of Wordperfect 5.1 DOS. I like it. The screen is free of all the noise that distracts you from writing. I say give it a go. It has spell checker and thesaurus.

Q10 is a simple but powerful text editor designed and built with writers in mind, not programmers! If you want a programmers editor, take a look to Notepad++. Q10 is free of bloat ware and that's the most significant attribute on it. Q10 is minimalistic, simple and easy to use, but not primitive. A grateful piece of software!

would to see something like that but for a chat client.

Yeah I think there should be a chat client as simple as Q10, which would allow full screen chat and nothing else.

thanks Otherself I found Miranda IM and tried tabSRMM it really works :) thanks for that, now coming back to Q10, I think it should have auto correction for spelling just like word it will make the software really great.

Beautifully simple and clean in the tradition of pre-Windows DOS style-text editors with orange text on a black screen (though colors are customizable). Highly recommended for taking notes (black background uses less power on laptops), for writers, and for brainstorming.

Still, the program goes too far with its anachronism with old style typewriter noises -- I recomend turning those off in the preferences (Ctrl+P). Has only essential features -- saves and opens ONLY txt files.

No updates since 2007. Here's hoping.

I am really digging this software. Cranked out 19k words of outline in it. I think I'm now a believer in the full screen/no distraction editors.

I have read on other web sites that the Q10 spell checker can be used anywhere on your computer (in other words, in other apps) as long as Q10 is running and you press F7. But I have not been able to make that feature work. Am I doing something wrong? Anybody have any luck with that spell-check-anywhere feature? Does it really exist?

One word: abandonware -- wish someone would take it up to iron the tiny niggles it still has... It would then be absolutely perfect!

You can now download a .zip of Q10 from the site & not have to mess around with the .paf file.
