What a treasure chest this application is. For those who are concerned about the limited space on the dock, explore the add-on docklets. Docklets are located on the website and this application provides support for ObjectDock docklets (such as those at wincustomize.com). Of interest to portable application users are a docklet which pops up a customizable menu for program launching, system status docklets (such as drive space monitors), and a "safely remove hardware" docklet. There are many others, such as clocks, "lock windows" docklets, screen capture docklets, etc. This application is highly customizable. I just wish someone would create a "task switcher" docklet for easily switching between applications that aren't minimized.

I'd say that its more a dock than a launcher, and has a limited number of programs which comfortably can fit. But it looks good.

I did just as the guy named "a" said, and the program went down to less than 1MB! Although, if you delete the skins folder and icons folder it will not start, so you will need to keep those folders!

you can go further and delete icons, liscence files and skins you dont wont it will be less than 1 mb.

shrink down the file size, go to language folder delete all except whatever language you want (look up langauge codes) 1033 is english, go to help folder and delete all the files (keep the lang you need or delete all) and if you dont plan to run this on older machine then xp you can delete gdiplus.dll. and delete the tools folder too to make it at a whopping 2.3 megs.

I got the PortableRocketDock from the French site, but it's not working correctly. It removes the drive letter and puts the relative path to where the RocketDock is installed, but that's not what RocketDock is looking for. It needs the path as Palshife mentioned.

So if the path is: F:/PortableApp/7zip.exe
and RocketDock is installed in: F:/RocketDock

Then the PortableRocketDock tool will make it: ../PortableApp/7zip.exe

Instead it needs to be: /PortableApp/7zip.exe

Too bad it doesn't work right.

You can use a little french GPL soft (http://clef.usb.googlepages.com/portablerocketdock) to config rocketdock in portable version with relative path

You have to be administrator in order to install the programm.
Can someone tell me how not te be administrator to use it?

Is there a reason you don't recommend this (other than TC being shareware) ?

this is the BEST launcher. If you really use your portable apps this thing is super configurable and really easy on the eyes. I use a few docklet and launchers with it, yam and shortpopup primarily. install it once and copy the install folder to your drive and you're done. there's an portable setting inside the app.

Note to frsfrs - use Universal extractor and follow the "how to extract" as stated above and then follow the instructions as per Palshife above, then this will work fine as a portable app under any drive designation.

Note: this program requires be logged as Administrator to proceed with installation

Tip: ShortPopUp 4.1 instead of KKmenu is much more practical and versatile

mark, I won't be surprised if RocketDock tries to inject a system DLL, since it needs to handle certain low-level system events eg. app minimize messages.

The "Target" path is relative to the "Start in" path, which is rather unconventional IMHO. So for example, if you have two folders "photofiltre" and "rocketdock" at the same level, and you are trying to specify a relative path to "photofiltre.exe", you should set:

Start in = ..\photofiltre
Target = "photofiltre.exe

Does anyone know if this app. is safe? I use Cyberhawk and it popped up a message informing me that the app. was trying to inject a system dll, which is typical of trojans or rootkits. Maybe someone should check this out.

Caltd: Here's what I've got so far that works. After you add the program to the dock, right click it and go into Icon Settings. Delete off the drive letter and the leading colon in the Target and Start In boxes, leaving just the root slash. Add any other programs you'd like to use with it, then exit. Open settings.ini file with your notepad of choice, and do a Replace All for "X:" to "" (obviously, change X to whatever drive letter your USB drive gets assigned). This not only maintains portability, but allows you to keep the icons associated with the program as well.

Having a problem getting the application to use relative paths rather than a drive letter mapping. Any suggestions?

what is the difference between rocketdock and rk launcher, they both resemble yzdock in nature..

Wow,I had seen this a while ago and thought it wasn't something that I'd like. But I've played around with this for a few days, and it's quite helpful... as well as fun!

Man I love this thing! They've really seemed to improve it over earlier versions. Doesn't seem to make constant hard-drive calls unlike RKLauncher when I monitor it with Sysinternals' ProcessMonitor.
