Angry IP Scanner is a fast IP scanner that can ping a range of IP addresses to check if they are alive, then optionally resolve hostnames, scan ports, etc. The program is useful for network administrators to monitor and manage their networks.
Note: Current versions of this program require Java. Until this is tested as portable, we are linking to the previous non-Java version.

v2.21
@Craunch
One more reason to use the older legacy version instead, which, afaik, does not need Java.

v2.21
According to http://angryip.org/download/#windows this needs java to be installed. Should it be listed here if that is the case?

Pointers fixed.

v2.21
BTW, Angry IP Scanner's website Home page and Download pointers are currently broken.
Shame, because this program is a remarkably unobstrusive and swift IP range scanner, especially the older, Windows-only v2.21 version (corrected pointers are included in my first remark above)
Admittedly, a few registries entry are created if one chooses to save some optional settings parameters, BUT the author tactfully provided a specific option to clear those registry entries upon user's request !
Neat.

v2.21
Awesome program! Can scan a single IP, range of IPs, or a lists (txt file) of IPs. Usually returns MAC Address, hostname, and NetBIOS info if it's a Windows machine (such as the computer name, group name). Immensely useful!
As illustrated in the forum http://www.portablefreeware.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=78597
AdvancedIPscanner is NOT portable.
Besides, the package contains no less than 45 distinct files, including umpteen dll's, for a bloated total of 8.8MB, versus AngryIPscanner single 108KB *.exe.
Take you pick...;-)
