chris: By default, it writes its data to the windows user folders. The path can be changed with the configuration program - selecting an existing folder in the TuxPaint folder (without any slashes at the beginning). Then it is truly portable.
Btw - nice prog, not only for kids, loads fast and has most of the needed tools onboard :-) [2006-10-24 01:20]
Andrew Lee: This appears to be new behaviour in 0.9.16. In 0.9.14, it writes to the app folder by default. I will update the synopsis and the version number as well. Thanks! [2006-10-25 01:54]
F BROUSSEY: Very very good software with all the needed option. Can run full screen...
Thanks a lot [2006-10-30 01:17]
a: this is cute!, and it has alot of features to keep your child (or you) busy [2006-11-14 14:01]
fromthesticks: Just unzip the folder then put the period in the alternative saving directory, then at the bottom left hand corner change settings from current user to all users. You don't have to move the .cfg file that way. It'll already be in the app folder. [2007-07-04 12:28]
Syspgmr: My 6 year old baby girl loves playing with this package. Many thanks. [2007-07-11 19:07]
Hovic: Nice program, I am surprised! Recommended to kids and adults! [2008-03-06 06:30]
Dana: What is this for kids? You have to get the adults to stop playing with this programme! Heaps of fun!! The mum!! [2008-05-10 00:53]

For more general topics (eg. whether apps that write to the registry, leave traces on the host machine, rely on certain versions of IE etc. can be considered portable), please post to the Portable Freeware Discussion forum. If your virus scanner has detected a virus in the application, please email the author directly or post to the forum. Note that false positives (i.e. flagging a virus when there is actually none) are extremely common for virus scanners. When in doubt, try an online scanner like Online Malware Scanner or VirusTotal, which scans files using multiple anti-virus engines. It is very likely to be a false positive if only a few engines raise the red flag.
