how can you class this as portable when it does not work on an external drive
works fine on a external drive.. what are you brabbling????
It appears that you cannot install the program the the usb pen drive. Only to windows itself. AKA if attmpt to install it to the pen drive then it just puts the needed system files onto the desktop machine. You cannot use it on another machine UNLESS it has this program already installed. UNLESS i missed something here.
If i did and you can fully run it from the pen drive then i hope someone posts how to do just that. Thanks
@vajohn1308, you need to download the ZIP package instead of the installer. Look for it near the middle of the home page, or search for "ZIP package". For example, the latest version is available at http://www.cpuid.org/download/pcw2007_v173.zip.
I don't put that as the download link because the version number is embedded and will become invalid the moment a new version is available.
UI and features are better than WinAudit.
Some system analysis are only performed when you click on that specific item which saves initial analysis time which is also nice.
Only down side I can see so far is no UTF support so some areas such as the "control panel" and UTF paths are displayed as gibberish.
Very well done! Your instructions took me right to the portable version, which I downloaded and used to check out the memory on may laptop. It outputs the whole report (or just desired sections) to 5 common formats including txt, html, csv, rtf, and pdf. Thanks again!
Cool app but does require Admin rights - looks nicer than WinAudit but WinAudit better for reporting on installed apps etc unless I'm missing something! Combination of the two would be awesome
Looks like there are problems with detecting "admin rights" when you have nested groups in the local group "Administrators".
Clicked on the zip file link above link and got this message. Tried from website and got the same.
Can anyone advise.
Thanks.

@cosmicknownothing:
as you mentioned the links does not work, there seems to be a typo. the below address worked for me
http://www.cpuid.com/download/pcw2008_v1871.zip
Version 193 is available:
http://www.cpuid.com/download/pcwizard/pcw2010_v193.zip
Ive used this many times and ive just tryed to download again and my anti-virus is detecting Trojans? anyone else had any problems?
PC Wizard is an excellent program. However, it should not be listed on this site since it's not portable at all, imho. The settings are written to the registry.
I find this tool super useful and I know exactly what type of memory module I should get. It gives information like clock speed of ram module, DDR, DDR2, etc and if someone were to ask me what kind of RAM they should get for their PCs. Without pulling apart their pc box, I could just get them to install this piece of software on their pc, find out the compatible ram, then go down to their nearest pc store and get the one that is compatible.

So which version is which? 1.96 or 1.94 or 1.95? This seems fishy..
Link for download refer to version 94, the website says that the latest is version 95... so where is 96?
I corrected the download link to the newest version: V2010.1.95
Sry, my bad, download link didn't change somehow yesterday, but version was already correct. PC Wizard website wasn't changed yet to newest version. Now everything is correct.
Ya, still doesn't work....
Download links seems to change often, last i've succesfully used was this one http://www.cpuid.com/downloads/pc-wizard/2010.1.96.zip
V2010.1.961
The .zip files currently available for download from the CPUID website are empty!
V2012.2.11
Just downloaded this app on a Windows 7 Professional machine and a Windows XP SP3 machine. It popped up on both machines with a peripheral error then quit.
v2012.2.11
