[Anonymous] ronniehow can you class this as portable when it does not work on an external drive [2006-11-15 07:00]

[Anonymous] Gothmothworks fine on a external drive.. what are you brabbling???? [2007-01-31 14:01]

[Anonymous] vajohn1308It appears that you cannot install the program the the usb pen drive. Only to windows itself. AKA if attmpt to install it to the pen drive then it just puts the needed system files onto the desktop machine. You cannot use it on another machine UNLESS it has this program already installed. UNLESS i missed something here.

If i did and you can fully run it from the pen drive then i hope someone posts how to do just that. Thanks

[Anonymous] Andrew Lee@vajohn1308, you need to download the ZIP package instead of the installer. Look for it near the middle of the home page, or search for "ZIP package". For example, the latest version is available at http://www.cpuid.org/download/pcw2007_v173.zip.

I don't put that as the download link because the version number is embedded and will become invalid the moment a new version is available.

[Anonymous] linuxampUI and features are better than WinAudit.
Some system analysis are only performed when you click on that specific item which saves initial analysis time which is also nice.
Only down side I can see so far is no UTF support so some areas such as the "control panel" and UTF paths are displayed as gibberish.

[Anonymous] rhavenerVery well done! Your instructions took me right to the portable version, which I downloaded and used to check out the memory on may laptop. It outputs the whole report (or just desired sections) to 5 common formats including txt, html, csv, rtf, and pdf. Thanks again! [2007-12-16 19:28]

[Anonymous] SamalamaCool app but does require Admin rights - looks nicer than WinAudit but WinAudit better for reporting on installed apps etc unless I'm missing something! Combination of the two would be awesome [2008-02-27 23:50]

[Anonymous] mekstroLooks like there are problems with detecting "admin rights" when you have nested groups in the local group "Administrators". [2008-03-13 08:33]

[Anonymous] cosmicknownothingClicked on the zip file link above link and got this message. Tried from website and got the same.

Can anyone advise.

Thanks.

For more general topics (eg. whether apps that write to the registry, leave traces on the host machine, rely on certain versions of IE etc. can be considered portable), please post to the Portable Freeware Discussion forum. If your virus scanner has detected a virus in the application, please email the author directly or post to the forum. Note that false positives (i.e. flagging a virus when there is actually none) are extremely common for virus scanners. When in doubt, try an online scanner like Online Malware Scanner or VirusTotal, which scans files using multiple anti-virus engines. It is very likely to be a false positive if only a few engines raise the red flag.
