#1 Post by smaragdus »

AWGG is an open-source portable download manager available for Windows and Linux.

clipboard monitor and can be integrated to firefox with flashgot plugin and chrome with Simple Get plugin.

AWGG comes from Advanced Wget GUI. AWGG is a lightweight multiplatform and multilanguage download manager, basically a wget frontend and other tools like aria2, curl and axel. AWGG is written in Free Pascal , using the Lazarus IDE.
AWGG features:
- Status filter download.
- Batch download.
- Manage multiple downloads engines at the same time.
- Multiple schedules.
- Clipboard monitoring.
- Notification system.
- Proxy configuration.
- Multiple queues.
- Supports HTTP, HTTPS, FTP.

AWGG portable:
AWGG is natively portable and stealth. Download awgg-0.4.0-win32-portable.7z 7-Zip archive (the latest version), extract it and run awgg.exe, all AWGG data and settings are saved inside program folder (awgg.ini, awgg.dat, aria2.conf, wget.ini).

AWGG license:
AWGG is freeware and open-source, the source code is available at GitHub.

AWGG note:
AWGG is light on system resources, it has a clean and nice GUI and on Windows it can use Aria2, cURL and Wget download engines. AWGG can be integrated to Firefox via FlashGot but I haven't tested it. The developer- Reinier Romero Mir is very friendly, helpful and open to suggestions. Since AWGG is portable and multi-platform and since it supports all major command-line download managers I suppose that it may be very useful to many users.

Nice one for sure, smaragdus. For anyone wondering, AWGG stands for 'Advanced Wget GUI'...

Softpedia provides 32 and 64-bit downloads; and the homepage screenie is good for other platforms...

The developer is doing his best to port AWGG to all OS:
...i want to port AWGG to all system possible, i think in specially for Rasberry,...

A free and open-source download manager available for all OS would be great.

I have just tested AWGG with FlashGot and although it is not officially supported manual integration is easy and works perfectly in Firefox.

You're probably right: I (Uni)extracted the 64-bit version and ran it, but it didn't make a settings file in AWGG's folder, but it did create an 'AWGG' folder in '%APPDATA%'. But after I moved the files to AWGG's program folder, it did abide them... ;)

Care to explain how you do it?

@Midas

Yes, of course.

Firefox-> Tools-> FlashGot-> More Options-> Add and then browse to awgg.exe and select it.

Screens:
-1-
AWGG 0.4.0.3299 - 2015-12-27 - FlashGot - 001.png
-2-
AWGG 0.4.0.3299 - 2015-12-27 - FlashGot - 002.png
This worked with Firefox 28.0 and FlashGot 1.5.6.12 but I suppose it should also work with newer versions of Firefox. I hope you won't have any problems integrating AWGG to Firefox via FlashGot.

Thanks, Midas. Will test the x64 version as well.

Unfortunately, that's a negative. I'll explain: as I have detailed before (see screenshot below as well as viewtopic.php?p=73285#p73285), I use Flashgot to invoke Wget directly in a console window, as per instructions at http://flashgot.net/screenshots#options.

Image

Now, AWGG's "Additional arguments" field (see below) only allows for a rather limited string length, which is keeping me from testing if those Wget parameters even work -- as in get passed correctly by AWGG to Wget when invoked via command line, as Flashgot does...

Image

Lastly, for anyone interested in running AWGG portable with the appropriate native version automagically, while keeping all its settings, here's how to do it with the help of yaP:
  1. Download both AWGG's 32-bit portable and 64-bit installer packages;
  2. Extract both to different folders -- the installer can be (Uni)extracted;
  3. Go inside the folder with the 32-bit version, and rename 'awgg.exe' to 'awgg32.main';
  4. Create and move all files to an 'App' sub-folder (you can delete the one XPI, which you won't use with a portable);
  5. Go inside the folder where you extracted the 64-bit installer, find and rename 'awgg.exe' to 'awgg64.main';
  6. Copy only 'awgg64.main' to the 'App' folder mentioned above were the portable files are, and delete everything else;
  7. Place the stable yaP launcher executable in the folder alongside the 'App' folder;
  8. Create a 'yaP.ini' text file with the following content:

    Code: Select all

    ; configuration file for yaP v0.6.19 (http://rolandtoth.hu/yaP/)
    ; application name: AWGG
    ; version: 0.4.0
    ; website: https://sites.google.com/site/awggproject/

    [GENERAL]
    application = App\awgg32.main :: App\awgg64.main
    ; commandline =
    ; workdir =

    [BEFORE]
    nowait = 1
    ...

Great news! I was afraid AWGG had been abandoned. 8)

[In case you need it, the beta downloads are all at https://sourceforge.net/projects/awgg/files/Beta/]

On first inspection, looks like the problem I had before has been solved in the Beta.

FYI, portability is set with 'AWGG.ini' containing the following string:

Code: Select all

portablemode=1
Some portability enhancements, too -- e.g., check the 4th line of the changelog in the post above...

OT: and yay! for post 4444. :mrgreen:
