I've added Earl to the database.
http://www.portablefreeware.com/index.php?id=2565 ... please vote :!:
Description: Earl allows you to convert .URL files into standard Window shortcut files (.LNK). This can be helpful if you use an application that doesn’t understand .URL files but does understand standard Windows shortcuts. For instance, some icon docks won’t handle a .URL file dropped on them, but can work with regular Windows shortcuts.

Thanks for posting that. We obviously don't have anything like it on the site.

I encourage everyone to have a look at all of Skwire's apps @ http://www.donationcoder.com/forum/inde ... ic=25636.0

A ton of apps, you should find a few things you like or need - don't think their all stealth, regardless, plus he's a nice guy and open to suggestions.

My fav was epCheck but it simply wont run on Windows 8.1 properly (including the latest beta), I should say the code to launch 7za.exe doesn't work at all - no 7za.exe epCheck is useless. The TV shows I had in my DB are now gone - for some reason the code deletes the existing xml files (your tv show db) before it determines the updated zip is even good...?, and then extracts the new updated TV show data - this is bad IMO. It was my fault for not saving the database first. Skwire lets you know that Win8 is not a tested platform so I fault no one.

XP and 7 seem compatible with all/most of Skwire's programs, not sure about Vista.

I also like SFVNinja, works fine on Win8.

Thank you for the kind words. :) I try to write my programs so they're portable in that they don't use the registry unless absolutely necessary, temp files are written to a clearly labelled temp folder, etc. That said, I really don't care much about the whole "full stealth" thing. First and foremost, I write my programs to solve a problem -- be it for myself or another person.

For what it's worth, epCheck seems to run fine in my Windows 8 VM with my, admittedly minimal, testing. One possible fix -- if you're running epCheck from a UAC-protected folder, try running it with administrator rights or moving it to a non-UAC protected folder.

Absolutely agreed and is something I've been meaning to fix. Thanks for reminding me about it. epCheck stores its show index and watched states in separate files so, if the admininstrator suggestion works, it should just download the missing data files and you'll be right back to where you were.
