QuickDic is a complete, offline German-English (and visa versa) dictionary. The program can automatically recognize the language in search, can pop up from a minimized state in response to clipboard entries (i.e. from a copy operation in a text editor, etc.), and contains some language lessons, games, and a included help file.

Clicky Gone Portable pulls windows out of view of the task bar or system tray and puts them into it's own menu. This can be an de-cluttering, organizational tool or a privacy issue (often known as a "boss key"). Available options include click-and-hide to quickly push visible windows out of the way, hide active, show/hide all, and "boss key" that both hides and mutes a window.
Optionally, the program can reduce the process priority of hidden windows, suppress pop-ups or notifications, and ignore "full screen" applications (games). Other user interface options include making windows not in focus transparrent as well as adding options to application windows for hide, priority, and pin on top. The program can even be run invisibly, entirely dependent on hot-keys alone.

Outstanding program - very lucky it's freeware. Use it daily to help keep my desk clean. The click-to-hide feature lets me push to the side everything I need moved out of view.

One odd note: the program won't hide Mozilla SeaMonkey when you hold the hot key and click the top bar: you have to click IN the window. Also, it won't hide YoutubeDownloaderHD at all. Other than those two programs, it seems uniform when hiding all other windows. |
Pawn is a simple chess program with a simple interface and a beginner-friendly engine.
Note: Main site offline, mirror provided. Additionally, old games from previous Pawn versions cannot be loaded due to format changes.

I don't know how to play chess, and thought this game would help me learn because it said its "more suited for beginners". I even selected "Novice" in the game choice, and each game went so fast, I was Checkmated before I knew what hit me. I'm sure this is not a game for beginners like me with no knowledge of the game, but its misleading to say its "more suited for beginners". It should say for beginners with some knowledge of the game. |
