If you go to
WORD > Insert > Symbol...
you'll see the available Unicode characters with their codes and can insert them in a document.

I don't really like and trust "Online Installers".
I would prefer a regular portable app that you "unpack and run".

PortableApps.com uses online installers when necessary by license.

psmstart.exe may be essential to launch 64-bit applications (psmenu.exe doesn't start with either missing), but that doesn't change the fact that psmenu.exe is a 32-bit application.

Clam Sentinel v1.22

lwc on 25 Mar 2023
  • 1MB (uncompressed)
  • Released on 23 Nov 2014
  • Suggested by jonezrin

Clam Sentinel is a real-time malware scanner using ClamWin Antivirus as its engine. The program also has its own system monitor that scans for unknown malware that does not yet have a ClamWin signature. It also detects new drives and monitors these units until the program is closed or until the device is disconnected.

NOTE: There have been no updates to this program since late 2014. You might want to consider using the general purpose Directory Monitor instead (see Execute scripts/applications when events occur, which also provides Clam Sentinel's missing feature of only launching ClamWin within specific folders).

Category:
Runs on:Win2K / WinXP / Vista / Win7 / Win8 / Win10
Writes settings to: Application folder
Dependencies: ClamWin Antivirus - You must have this program before using Clam Sentinel.
Path portability: Requires manual entry of relative path (eg. ..\..\personal\work.doc)

How to extract:
  1. Download the ZIP package and extract to a folder of your choice Follow the configuration instructions on this page

Thanks for the info, MKonar. I see you carried it over to the ClamWin Portable entry, too. :)

Unfortunately, seems that afterall ClamWinDBUpdate is not adequate for a Sentinel configuration.

I tested it and even after correcting the "clampath=" key inside 'ClamWinPortableDBUpdate.ini', it doesn't work because my executable is 'ClamWin.exe' and not 'ClamWinPortable.exe'; also, it's located in a folder named 'bin', while the \/irus Database files are in a sibling folder named 'db'.

And just FYI, the 'thumbs.db' inside 'rsc' cause Explorer to complain when moving the extracted folder tree as instructed...

ishldgetoutmore on 2015-07-23 14:01

When I decompress Clam Sentinel, I don't see any .ini file. What am I missing?

ishldgetoutmore on 2015-07-23 14:16

Nevermind. I ran ClamSentinel.exe and it created the .ini file for me.

  • 2MB (uncompressed)
  • Released on 17 Jul 2017

PCI-Z is designed for detecting unknown hardware on your Windows based PC. It will help you determine vendor, device and certain details about device even if you don't have drivers installed. Software uses The PCI ID Repository, a public repository of all known ID's used in PCI devices: ID's of vendors, devices, subsystems and device classes. It is used in various programs (e.g. The PCI Utilities) to display full human-readable names instead of cryptic numeric codes.

You can find drivers for your operating system without a problem! Find drivers for your WiFi cards, audio cards, network cards or any other PCI peripheral.

On most cnet download pages, if you scroll to the bottom of the page, there will be a direct download link for the software, avoiding the bundled cnet installer: http://i.imgur.com/xlp0V6M.png That being said, I still prefer other download sources instead of cnet.

This is a great little tool, I do agree with Anonymous that some of the cleaning options are usually pointless as they will be recreated by the OS anyway, but it's always nice to have a tool that can do a deeper scrubbing than most other tools. I don't use PureRa often, but when I do, its because I want it done all the way.

ViperTech on 2010-03-09 09:56

@Anon Yes it Cleans files that are not used but Also It Cleans ALL of them off of your system. Some of the files olny are created WHEN the particular folder gets opened.

In this case there are very good chance that many of the files removed are for folders that are rarely accesed and therefor may not be made again. Also there is the matter of fragmentation and wasted inodes (yes Inodes is the wrong term but its the closest to what I'm thinking right now)

Over all this is a pretty good tool and very usefull.

Best use for this. Do a good disc clean then Defrag your system.
