that YouTube Pal program is kind of cool. it has a download queue but unfortunately doesn't show the size of the files.

Re: WeatherMate (and other programs)
Just to clarify what might first appear as an incongruous off-topic comment above:
YouTubePal, a small portable utility for downloading YouTube videos, is indeed also written by WeatherMate's author Ravib Bhavnani;
well worth a try:

Thanks for the hint, bzl333...

Re: YouTubePal
Because it wasn't mentioned yet, YouTubePal requires DotNET v3.5 SP1 -- a non-issue in Vista+ really, but relevant in case you'd want to run it in XP...
Re: WeatherMate (and other programs)
XP is super vulnerable that people really should switch i.e. move to Ubuntu if you can't afford Windows 8.1
Re: Youtube Pal - video downloader
Softpedia indicates that it covers batch downloads, which Youtube Downloader HD and 3D Youtube Downloader can't.

I totally disagree. Users who "upgraded' to Windows 10 are more vulnerable than any other Windows versions users because Windows 10 is a botnet, the biggest botnet ever to boot.
There are many tools advertized as being able to remove the spying features of Windows 10 but I do not think they can be really effective because Windows 10 is evil by design and some of its spying features are hard-coded and undocumented. SO fir me the Windows 10 evils are incurable.
Everyone who uses any version of Windows and connects to the internet is vulnerable, who thinks that installing Windows updates protects them are wishful thinkers. Windows updates do more harm than good and should be avoided like plague. I disabled Windows updates for good because finally I got tired of fixing Windows after updates. I have Widows 8 (not 8.1) and after I disabled all updates I haven't had any problems while before that I had had only troubles.
I am not a Linux expert but for me Ubuntu is the worst Linux distribution (Unity is pure evil) and I would rather use Windows than Ubuntu.
Re: Youtube Pal - video downloader
There are certainly problems with Win10, but guinness comment is accurate: there are vulnerabilities for WinXP Microsoft will not fix and that most users should expect to be exploited by any current penetration testing / hacking kits.smaragdus wrote:I totally disagree. Can you provide some linkage around this?smaragdus wrote:I totally disagree. Users who "upgraded' to Windows 10 are more vulnerable than any other Windows versions users because Windows 10 is a botnet, the biggest botnet ever to boot.
This post is just chock full of strong OS opinions.smaragdus wrote:I am not a Linux expert but for me Ubuntu is the worst Linux distribution (Unity is pure evil) and I would rather use Windows than Ubuntu.

@webfork
I haven't yet heard or read of a XP system that has been compromised because of the security vulnerabilities it has. Serious hackers like Milan-based Hacking Team usually exploit security flaws that haven't yet been documented.
In Windows 10 it is Microsoft who has the full control over the system, not the user- Microsoft can install, uninstall, delete whatever it wants, it can even remove software which it thinks is illegal- this has already happened. Microsoft also uses the users' connection to spread its updates. The users cannot even disable the automatic updates. And more- Microsoft is collecting all users data. All this is the mere definition of botnet:
Criticism against Windows 10, Unity and Gnome 3 is wide-spread. Windows 10 is a privacy disaster and the web is full of articles dedicated to this subject.
This is my opinion- I express it and I do not expect anyone to share it.

This is a quotation from Wikipedia.A botnet is a number of Internet-connected computers communicating with other similar machines in an effort to complete repetitive tasks and objectives.
which I consider to be a heavy blow against usability- for example a Linux program which is set to start it tray is likely to be unable to start under Ubuntu Unity. Unity and Gnome 3 are enemies to every geeky user (I assume that every Linux user is more or less a kind of a geek) because they do deprive them of configuration options. I have to admit that I gloat when I read that Gnome project is suffering of lack of manpower....Ubuntu Unity just got rid of the system tray...

I like this software, still testing it.

A good one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LclXKwQq2JM
and so much more about it just after a single search on google for Windows 10 as a botnet gives about 515,000 results.

Re: Youtube Pal - video downloader
YouTube Pal works well for me on XP (NET 3.5 SP1 installed). The developer has other small portable freeware apps on his site, http://ravib.com/freeware.htm. Weathermate is good and EZbackup isn't bad either. Going to try RadioRipper on Win7. Also, the web site itself is interesting reading.

YoutubePal v3.4 , released 24 Sep 2016
Changelog:
- Fixed inability to find and download some videos.
full changelog http://ravib.com/youtubepal/relnotes.htm
This small (1MB exe + 1.2MB pdb), well designed video downloader still holds its own amazingly well against similar (but much beefier) competition, such as :
YoutubePal allows selecting a specific file format/resolution , when diverse media quality videos are available for download:
Furthermore, one can also queue multiple files for batch download :
Tested fine under Win XP, Win 7; claimed to run as well under Vista, Win 8.x and Win 10.
Recommended.
