Money Manager Ex is a personal finance software that helps you to organize your finances and keeps track of where, when and how the money goes. It is also a great tool to get a bird's eye view of your financial worth.
Alternatively, Money Manager Ex Portable is stealth, portablizes the recently used files list, and allows the last used file to automatically open.

Works pretty good, it's a little slow. I liked I could use it on Linux and Windows and off my flash drive. I kept encrypting the file with dsCrypt and then I upgraded versions of MME and the data wouldn't read. I don't know if it was dsCrypt or MME that ruined the file. It's still being actively developed so I'll keep an eye on it.
section where the money goes don't work
I really like that it works on LINUX too.
Very Good.
Much faster (and smaller) than GNUCash that I was using before. I liked it a lot!
Andrea Pradella: Maybe you are trying 12,05 instead of 12.05 or the opposite.
After entering loads of data into an enrcyped password database it was very dissapointing to discover that upon re-strting the program it wouldn't read it (said wrong password). To check I wasn't going mad i made another 'test' database (encryped with password) and exactly the same. Maybe my password was too long (14 chars?) but it's accepted it OK. Beware..
Ding, the issue you mention was a bug, fixed in 0.9.1.0. There should be no data loss in your DB.
I like MME. I've used it for a couple of years and have found it to be very reliable. I don't use the built-in encryption for storage of the db though. I use AxCrypt on my PC for that...
Lightweight, Easy to use with no prior knowledge of accounting principles, OSS and fully portable version in development at PortableApps.com.

can anybody tell me what the "copy transaction" command is for? I imagined it would be used to copy & paste a transaction from one account to another but there is no command "paste transaction" to support it
just discovered that "copy transaction" is for copying transactions within the same account. Still can't move transactions from one account to another, tho
v0.9.6.0 release is out !!
notes now always visible at the rightmost column, very nice!
still can't move transactions from one account to another, drat!

I like this program a lot. Unfortunately it has stopped working on my W7 32bit computer. This has happened befor but then I could get it to work again by running it under XP SP3 compatibility mode, but now nothing helps to get it to work again. This is precisely the kind of software ons does NOT want to stop working. All my data are in the database and I cannot reach it anymore.
V0.9.8.0
One could add that there is a version by PortableApps that AFAIK handles the registry entries.
V0.9.8.0
I think this is an excellent program with some great functions.
