Dev-C++ is an IDE for the C/C++ programming language based on the Mingw port of GCC. It features a project manager, syntax highlighting editor, class browser, code completion, integrated debugging etc. Orwell's Dev-C++ is also based on the famous Bloodshed Dev-C++ (which at present isn't being maintained by the original developer) and hosts a number of fixes including support for 64-bit processors.

V4.9.9.2
@devildevilira
One the most irritating bugs for me was that stepping through code with the debugger did not work properly. Sometimes lines were executed, but this was not shown on the screen. Highlighting of the wrong line, stuff like that.
Compilation seemed to be ok, but then again this has little to do with dev-c++ (which is only a front-end).
Another main concern for me was that there seems to be no development anymore for at least 3 years. I do not want to use a tool without current development if there are replacements that do have regularly updates.
Switching to Code::Blocks should be very easy, it can import dev-c++ projects.
@joop
And how buggy was it? could you please state the bugs? specifically what? I just need to know. Im using it now.
I have used Dev-C++ a lot, but found it to be quite buggy. Especially the debugger is not very reliable. Furthermore development seems to be completely stopped.
I have searched for a replacement and found Code::Blocks (http://www.codeblocks.org/). It has all the goodies that Dev-C++ had and more! Furthermore it is still updated regularly (see Nightlies). The only thing I am not sure: can it be portable?
Can i use crypto++ library w/ bloodshed?
