FileTypesMan is an alternative to the 'File Types' tab in the 'Folder Options' of Windows. It displays the list of all file extensions and types registered on your computer. For each file type, the following information is displayed: Type Name, Description, MIME Type, Perceived Type, Flags, Browser Flags and more. FileTypesMan also allows you to easily edit the properties and flags of each file type, as well as it allows you to add, edit and remove actions in a file type.

System requirements: Win98 / WinME / WinNT / Win2K / WinXP / Vista / Win7 / Win8 / Win10
Writes settings to: Application folder
Stealth: ? Yes
Unicode support: Yes
License: Freeware
How to extract: Download the ZIP package and extract to a folder of your choice. Launch FileTypesMan.exe.
What's new?
  • Added 'Copy Selected Actions' and 'Paste Actions' options, which allows you to copy one or more actions into the clipboard and then paste them into another file type / extension.
  • Fixed bug: When a file extension had a 'User Choice' entry that cannot be accessed, FileTypesMan displayed and edited the actions of the file type, instead of displaying 'Access Denied' error message.

I'm really surprised - it works even for replacing txt notepad by another application! Well done, it seems to be really useful!

Although it is extra useful, be extra careful with it or you might screw your system -- check, check, check, & recheck whatever you do.

I stumbled upon this app. accidentally when trying to replace my system icon for .reg files. I used to use IconPhile, but it's process is hidden. Sometimes it's hard to undo.

With this.. im able to manually replace system icons. :)
And it's portable/stealth!
