SideSlide

#1 Post by risk »

This is one of those Dock/Toolbar Launchers that has many more features and ways to configure and customize than what I've seen in others.

Make sure to spend some time looking at the Quick Start and Screenshots on the website and also the tips and change log. There's alot to this app.

Very comprable to other launchers in mem usage.

How about that. Looks good and it's natively portable.

I just gave this a quick try, but it's not what I'm looking for. The program looks good, its very easy to add shortcuts and "containers" but I cant seem to move objects around to suit my needs.....maybe I'm just too tired to test it at the minute...

SlideSide

Installed the programm, copied the folder and uninstalled it. Started slideside.exe from the just made folder and "played" a bit with the application. Looks good but I noticed that the "containers" and settings are stored in the user profile directory.
There is no way to change that behaviour.

You left out a step! Here are the steps:

1. Install to default folder
2. Copy to USB drive or new Location
3. Uninstall
4. From the new locations, run LocationChooser.exe
5. Change from Default to Root Folder and save
6. Run SideSlide.

This has been tested with v2.1.00b.

I overlooked the locationChooser.exe, you're right!. Now it's working fine for me. Thanks for posting this app. in the TPFC forum!

I'm supprised this hasn't been added to TPFC yet. Its good software. I normally test software once, and then leave it for later use But I might use this often.

I thought this was in the database.

I tried this months ago and could have sworn it was from here lol.

Ah, just checked, it was rejected.
Thanks for the advice to make it portable Risk

Well, I don't agree with Andrew that it's writing to the user profile folder.
If you follow the advice risk gave, this app is definitely PORTABLE, and it's great software!
Btw, it's updated to version 2.2.02b

But to install it [version 2.2.02b ] I must be logged in as administrator. Does it mean that it can still be portable?

Extract it using Inno.
Works great, but it's a huge step from the simplicity of PStart. Had a play for 5 minutes and it's definitely got huge potential, think I'd need to sit down for a couple of hours to set it up how I'd like it though :/
