Yes, it's due to access to protected system files! In most cases, if CHK can't read the file it will mark its icon with an exclamation sign. However, in some cases, during attempt to search/access to a file within protected system directory it will cause an exception.

A major update - CHK v1.40:

• Added WHIRLPOOL hash
• Removed SHA3/Keccak512 hash. It's not yet standardized by NIST and the final version will be different from current Keccak512
• GUI improvements - 32-bit icons, "Refresh" command, new shortcuts
• Fixed "Open With... chk.exe" program crash

BTW, looks like the catalog is not friendly to 32-bit program icons. Consider this CHK icon:

I updated the icon and the screenshot. I decided to keep the hash list as it is because the entry says "most popular hash protocols including", i.e. it's not intended to accurately track which hash functions are supported.
