[Mod note: the present is the official forum topic for Lynx; http://www.portablefreeware.com/?id=2331; post subject amended, original was "Links and Lynx Portable text based web browsers"]
I didn't see these at PFC database so I'm listing them here:
Lynx is a text-based web browser with full HTML4 support. It's handy for low-bandwidth situations and for testing website screen reader compatibility.

Links is a text-based web browser with full HTML4 support. It's handy for low-bandwidth situations and for testing website screen reader compatibility.

Why do I suggest both? ... We'll this website has a good run down of the differences between the two.

Re: Links and Lynx Portable text based web browsers
Apart from protocol support, Links looks very much superior to Lynx. Thanks for the breakdown.abc wrote:Why do I suggest both? ... We'll this website has a good run down of the differences between the two.

Re: Lynx text based web browser
Topic update: Lynx Portable v2.8.9 released 2019-08-19 (upstream changelog at lynx.invisible-island.net/lynx2.8.9/breakout/CHANGES).
Re: Lynx text based web browser
Recent updates to the Links(2) topic reminded me to check on Lynx -- which hasn't seen any new updates to its stable release and thus remains at v2.8.9.
A quick note to self pointing out that Links is available on Android -- e.g., via Termux repos -- which I use to dump text laden or otherwise in-accessible webpages via the following command.
