I want to leave ge.tt as they say I am distributing malware
I want to leave ge.tt as they say I am distributing malware
I host my applications using the service ge.tt, but the have flagged my account on numerous occasions as being malware, which they aren't of course. So can anyone recommend a better alternative?
Until this is resolved, I have taken my site offline.

@guinness
Have you tried Mega? It offers 50 GB for free.

Thanks, though the company has a controversial past I could do without.

Well, as you already know, I host my programs in SourceForge.
Some other options I'm aware of are Bintray and FossHub.

I don't know what is controversial about Mega, the fact that it was founded by Kim Dotcom, the one who opposed the dictatorship of the copyright cult and who fought and still fights against the global censorship and the suppression of freedom USA is trying to impose on the whole world?

At Megaupload, the precedessor of Mega, the employees themselves uploaded copyrighted material without permission.smaragdus wrote:I don't know what is controversial about Mega, the fact that it was founded by Kim Dotcom, the one who opposed the dictatorship of the copyright cult and who fought and still fights against the global censorship and the suppression of freedom USA is trying to impose on the whole world?

What about Github?
Re: I want to leave ge.tt as they say I am distributing malw
I'll just add the obvious Google Drive and SkyDrive to the list...

I use GitHub, but NOT (this used to be now) all my software is open source.shnbwmn wrote:What about Github?
It might be the only way.Midas wrote:I'll just add the obvious Google Drive and SkyDrive to the list...

If you're already using Github, which I understood as a fairly complete service, what else do you need?guinness wrote:...can anyone recommend a better alternative?
Offhand I'd say Wikia as it gives some opportunity for collaboration in addition to site hosting, though I haven't tested it recently.
Good luck and let me know if you need additional help. You having these issues is absurd to me.
Re: I want to leave ge.tt as they say I am distributing malw
There's a typo here. What guinness wanted to say is that "not all my software is open source". That's why is not possible to use GitHub for all of their programs.guinness wrote:I use GitHub, but now all my software is open source.shnbwmn wrote:What about Github?

But if a person is only hosting the installation/zip packages (as is the case here), and not the code, then there shouldn't be an issue right?lautrepay wrote:What guinness wanted to say is that "not all my software is open source". That's why is not possible to use GitHub for all of their programs.

Wikia isn't a file hosting service at all. Guinness needs a service to host program downloads.webfork wrote: Offhand I'd say Wikia as it gives some opportunity for collaboration in addition to site hosting, though I haven't tested it recently.
I think the GitHub EULA doesn't allow closed-source projects to host downloads there (except with paid plans).shnbwmn wrote:But if a person is only hosting the installation/zip packages (as is the case here), and not the code, then there shouldn't be an issue right?lautrepay wrote:What guinness wanted to say is that "not all my software is open source". IIRC, FossHub hosts freeware, not only open source software.
EDIT: There are well known and reputed open source (i.e. SMPlayer, Audacity), freeware (i.e. foobar2000) and even freemium (SpyBot S&D) software hosted there.
