It looks as though the company that bought Winamp, Radionomy, is now going to be controlled by Vivendi.

Winamp isn't officially dead. It all depends on what Vivendi wants to do with the rights to Winamp now.
is it stealth? ;)

Yeah Vivendi bought MP3.com back in the day and basically nothing happened: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MP3.com#MP3.com_sold ... MP3.com was an amazing site before the purchase though, as you can tell from the wikipedia entry, not making enough money for it's owners. Anyway, I'm not terribly hyped that Vivendi can really build Winamp into something that will flourish again under Vivendi.
