I'd like to start posting entry links at the top of official forums. This is because search engines have been increasingly pointing to Forum threads rather than the PFW entries. Google doesn't have a problem with this but Bing, Yahoo, and DuckDuckGo all have been doing this consistently.
Example: PDF X-Change
https://search.yahoo.com/search?p=pdf%2 ... lefreeware
https://www.bing.com/search?q=pdf%20xch ... lefreeware
https://duckduckgo.com/?q=pdf+xchange+p ... are&t=ffsb
As such, I was thinking about editing the first entry of each directly linked thread that points back to the entry. Something along the lines of the TorBrowser thread.
Responses? Suggestions?
Idea: add an official forum entry link
Re: Idea: add an official forum entry link
That would be nice.
Re: Idea: add an official forum entry link
I agree 100%. I have tried to do just that whenever I promoted some forum topics to officialdom.
Re: Idea: add an official forum entry link
Sounds like a good idea.

It's a nice-to-have, but feels like a lot of work!
Re: Idea: add an official forum entry link
Perhaps if there was a way to add a word detection feature that auto links programs mentioned in the OP to related PFW entries. Not sure how feasible that is, or possible but may help cut down the manual work.Andrew Lee wrote:It's a nice-to-have, but feels like a lot of work!

I'll take this as a collective "yes" and get started. I should develop a spreadsheet system for the top ~100 entries to help speed up the initial process, but I might just do the manual route.
I've been slowly converting all the site's non-animated images over to PNG / JPG format so I definitely don't mind.Andrew Lee wrote:It's a nice-to-have, but feels like a lot of work!
