Re: A Wallpaper Changer that may be portable
Have you tried WallPaper Master's freeware version?
http://jamesgart.com/wallpaperchanger/download.html
(saves its settings to the app folder)
Its way more than I need for a wallpaper changer but it seems to work as a portable on its own
(the no installer zip version)
I personally prefer something much simpler like
Moody Desktop (non portable tho)
http://www.zeroideas.net/MDesktop/Index.html
Its a standalone exe file but It stores its settings to the windows registry
A JPE or NSIS launcher is easy enough to make for it so no worries.
I especially like it when you exit the app
it asks if you want to restore the desktop.

Re: A Wallpaper Changer that may be portable
Here's my little app that was made to fill this gap:
WallPro - the revitalizing wallpaper changer!
WallPro allows setting Desktop background quickly based on ini config or using command line.
With almost 100 input formats and various features (timed wallpaper change, next, random, calendar modes, etc) it will really bring life to your desktop!
WallPro can also be used as a standalone portable application.

Though it's listed under Assox's add-ons, it can be run as a standalone application too. Tested on Windows XP but hopefully it copes with windows 7 too.
Please note that changing the wallpaper involves modifying the registry too.

Re: A Wallpaper Changer that may be portable
Its not very portable if you have to physically enter in the location of the images on the drive. Can those locations be relative?tproli wrote:based on ini config
Can that be avoided?tproli wrote:Please note that changing the wallpaper involves modifying the registry too.
Re: A Wallpaper Changer that may be portable
Yepp, you can enter a relative path to a dir containing your wallpaper images. You can even control whether subfolders would be taken into account. For example:
So you have to enter only the directory name (with relative or absolute path) and not the path of the images. You can specify a given image file also:
This will set ".\Wallpapers\Sunset.jpg" as a wallpaper. If set to "random", random image will be selected.
Read the readme.txt for more examples.
Code: Select all
DIR=Wallpapers
Code: Select all
FILE=Sunset.jpg
Read the readme.txt for more examples.
As I know that can't be eliminated but maybe I'm wrong.Can that be avoided?
Re: A Wallpaper Changer that may be portable
For now I must give wallpro a pass.
I would like to use it but it seems that in addition to having no GUI, it requires Admin rights.
Thanks for the effort though, I liked the way it worked but it is a little more trouble to use, and the Admin thing kills it for me.
