Re: MyDefrag
So, since it can be portable, shouldn't we add it to the database?
Also, is it better that the old JK Defrag?
and how these two compare to defraggler?
i'm looking for a defragmenter, and i'd like to know what you think...

Re: MyDefrag
The last time I checked, it writes settings in registry.
The fisrt two are portable for sure. Let us know what you thought after you tried itthe_watcher wrote:Also, is it better that the old JK Defrag?

Re: MyDefrag
These 3 software (Defraggler, JkDefrag, MyDefrag) in my opinion are the most valid free solutions for defragmentation.
Months ago I read some articles that compare defrag software and report JkDefrag as one of the best solutions (also compared with shareware programs), with a minimalistic interface and a very good algorithm. Lately I started to use Defraggler, given the interface very well done and the good defrag quality, and because of the interruption in JkDefrag development. I tried also MyDefrag, that as successor of JkDefrag continues to be a good software, but unfortunately no longer portable.
Actually I use Defraggler to defrag once in a month and JkDefrag only sometimes to make also disk optimization (to do it I use this GUI I have little improved to have the best optimization configurations available in a click).

Re: MyDefrag
I also find Auslogics Disk Defrag quite good. There is a portable version available:Lupo73 wrote:These 3 software (Defraggler, JkDefrag, MyDefrag) in my opinion are the most valid free solutions for defragmentation.

Re: MyDefrag
It is good and fast.. I only remember that it used Windows api to defrag and was considered less powerful than others. But could be better now, that has a longer history behind.
Re: MyDefrag
i like auslogic's most out of the free portable choices
mainly i like the look and ease of use
for the functionality, I havent really seen any difference between them in how they defrag, they basically all the same with maybe 1-2% difference which doesn't really mean anything

Re: MyDefrag
About midway through the description page Auslogics has a comparison chart of several disk defrag programs, among them Defraggler, with which it lists four differences.-.- wrote:for the functionality, I havent really seen any difference between them in how they defrag, they basically all the same with maybe 1-2% difference which doesn't really mean anything

Re: MyDefrag
Yes, even if the comparison isn't really impartial, given that realized by auslogics itself. Anyway I'm happy to know that there are some good free and portable solutions for defragmentation, that allow users to make defrags freely.
Re: MyDefrag
i dont really care about the chart... from experience of defraging with 1 program, and analysising with another, I've found that they are all basically the same lol so I pick the one that looks best to me and easiest to use
