The community-developed version that Zotero support is pointing to is seeing ongoing updates. I tested the August release. Not a resounding win yet ...
Import
I couldn't seem to get it to import a random PDF file, despite that being one of it's primary features. Not sure what's happening there.
Integration
It's still no ideal: the program seems to require Java installation, meaning no jPortable option yet and I didn't see anything for LibreOffice Portable.
LibreOffice (installed) integration screenshot
I wasn't able to get it to work with Firefox Portable, despite the mention on the dev page.
Zotero Standalone Portable
Re: Zotero Standalone Portable
A shame really, as there aren't a lot of options for free bibliographic managers as we stand.
Re: Zotero Standalone Portable
No, I've had a few conversations about this over the last year and it's not a great situation. An easy option for students and casual researchers should be a lot easier.
Re: Zotero Standalone Portable
PortableApps just released a version.
I didn't dig very deep here but there's nothing on the announcement or home page around whether the add-on components work with other PortableApps properties. Specifically Zotero Connector for Firefox https://www.zotero.org/download/ works with Firefox Portable or Zotero's LibreOffice Extension https://extensions.libreoffice.org/en/e ... ntegration working with LibreOffice Portable.
Based on some discussions with friends who use the program regularly, I recommend reading up on Zotero before diving in -- I've been warned by my academic friends that it's not the most intuitive program, which was certainly my experience. Possible options there: https://libraryguides.csuniv.edu/zotero or https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JG7Uq_JFDzE
