Ynote Classic is an easy to use, open and versatile Text Editor and Source Code Editor. It can deal with a variety of tasks ranging from writing to programming.

Ynote is DotNET (v2.0) dependent, just check the 'speedup.bat' that is found in the extracted portable folder. In my tests under Windows XP Pro SP3, I couldn't detect any other significant traces outside of program folder -- everything was neatly saved to the "Package" sub-folder...

This is an interesting take on Sublime Text -- it clearly replicates functionalities, e.g., as you can attest by looking at the "Tools" menu, where you'll find its "Package Manager" (currently, only 2 packages show up when PM is invoked, "Autoload" and "Solarized Theme").

In its default form, of the two foremost features I look for in a text editor, Ynote doesn't provide for any active URLs, but it has the basic text case transforms under "Edit | Case". Also, "Edit | Insert | Date/Time" produced weird results: only the string "DD-01-YYYY" got inserted. IMHO, Ynote feels beta alright, with still some way to go before it gets fully usable; nonetheless, it is extremely lightweight and shows promise for the future...

Development stopped much earlier, IMHO, given that the same(?) Ynote Classic v2.8.5 Beta was posted to CodeProject back in 2014-07-31:

CodePlex Archive will be shut down after July 1st, 2021.

CodePlex was Microsoft's free, open source project hosting site, which ran from 2006 through 2017. The site has been in archive mode for 3 years. We now encourage customers to use Github for their open source project hosting needs.

CodePlex will continue as an archive until next July (2021), at which point it will be shut down. Until then, you can browse published projects, documentation, issues, and discussions which were posted before the site went into archive mode three years ago.
