used universal extractor to extract then
placed it in a program launcher and then
launched from the drive
and then had to reset the text file PhotoLab
entered the address for each photo minus the drive letter
and the symbol :
works but fast and no adjustment I can find dont know if it is portable in a no registry entries sense but it seems to work if I could just slow it down it would be great

Have you tried WallPaper Master's freeware version?

Its way more than I need for a wallpaper changer but it seems to work as a portable on its own
(the no installer zip version)

I personally prefer something much simpler like
Moody Desktop (non portable tho)

Its a standalone exe file but It stores its settings to the windows registry
A JPE or NSIS launcher is easy enough to make for it so no worries.
I especially like it when you exit the app
it asks if you want to restore the desktop.

Though it's listed under Assox's add-ons, it can be run as a standalone application too. Tested on Windows XP but hopefully it copes with windows 7 too.

Please note that changing the wallpaper involves modifying the registry too.

Its not very portable if you have to physically enter in the location of the images on the drive. Can those locations be relative?

Yepp, you can enter a relative path to a dir containing your wallpaper images. You can even control whether subfolders would be taken into account. For example:

DIR=Wallpapers

So you have to enter only the directory name (with relative or absolute path) and not the path of the images. You can specify a given image file also:

FILE=Sunset.jpg

This will set ".\Wallpapers\Sunset.jpg" as a wallpaper. If set to "random", random image will be selected.

Can that be avoided?

As I know that can't be eliminated but maybe I'm wrong.

For now I must give wallpro a pass.

I would like to use it but it seems that in addition to having no GUI, it requires Admin rights.

Thanks for the effort though, I liked the way it worked but it is a little more trouble to use, and the Admin thing kills it for me.
