At least part of this post is just complaining that this program claimed to support a video format that it doesn't. Their support service was useless.
* Not even sort of portable:
Writes a lot of settings to HKLM\SYSTEM, HKU\..\Software\Bigasoft, and HKU\..\Software\Trolltech

Bigasoft total video converter [not free, not portable]
Re: Bigasoft total video converter [not free, not portable]
Not really relevant, but if you ever need to convert Apple loop files (.aiff, from Garageband, Logic, etc) to .wav (to use them on Windows), then this program will do it fantastically. No free program could, much less portable ones. There are quite a few online conversion sites, but they're clunky to use and a waste of bandwidth, depending on how large your loop collection is.

Audacity can open (and edit) AIFF files as well as convert to WAV (it's listed as one of the formats supported on their page) and is portable.... if you ever need to convert Apple loop files (.aiff, from Garageband, Logic, etc) to .wav
Re: Bigasoft total video converter [not free, not portable]
Ugh I apologise, I meant .caf files, not .aif/.aiff . The former is the Core Audio Format, and it stores .aiff files for Apple Loop libraries.webfork wrote:Audacity can open (and edit) AIFF files as well as convert to WAV (it's listed as one of the formats supported on their page) and is portable.... if you ever need to convert Apple loop files (.aiff, from Garageband, Logic, etc) to .wav
