i'm looking for a software fre to block file modification by other software
i would like to select several files, and protect them by modification
is there some freeware ?

Sure thing ... yeah, having worked with UNIX file permissions at some length, I'd probably class this as read/write/execute permissions, with Runblock only affecting execute permissions. Even all these years later I'm not exactly clear on how that's managed on Windows, but I'm very familiar with the UNIX CHMOD.
Anyway, askAdmin blocks read, write, AND execute. I'm not sure how I'd set them to read-only using this same model. Maybe this command line function: https://sumtips.com/tips-n-tricks/how-t ... e-able-in/ ?
There is a sordum program for external devices (Removable Access Tool) but it's worth mentioning that, since all of this is just a matter of permissions management, the only way to fully block write permissions is to put the information on an external device with the "read only" enabled, e.g. a web server or write-protect switch:
