RocketDock is a smoothly animated, alpha-blended program launcher that resembles the "dock" found in Mac OS X. It features a simple drag-and-drop interface, multi-monitor support, running application indicators, compatibility with most dock skin format, relative path support etc.
Though it's no longer maintained, its basic functions were tested to work on up to at least Windows 11.

Thanks GoD, for pointing to Taskix. It is portable, undemanding (1MB memory footprint) and gets the job done...

Useful App for organizing taskbar buttons and system tray icons for easier access. It is not as memory friendly as Taskix but I have found that after running this for a little while its memory usage drops to just below 1,500 KB. The author comments on this in response to the second question at

The link above is broken - should be http://www.freewebs.com/nerdcave/ for the site and http://nerdcave.webs.com/downloads/taskbar_shuffle_2.5.zip for the download. GoD: there is x64 version now (didn't try it myself...) |
TrayEverything shows a list of currently opened programs with their associated windows and allow you to either hide any of the windows, or minimize them to the system tray. You can also assign a password when you hide/minimize a window so that only someone who knows the password can bring the window back into view.

DriverGrabber helps copy all third party drivers from your system into a "Drivers" subfolder where the EXE is located. This comes in useful if you need to reinstall Windows but have misplaced the original driver discs.

It seems to be written in AutoIT. Perhaps could be recompiled for ANSI to work on Win9X? |
