Tested v.1.19 again on 2010-12-02Andrew Lee wrote:Status: Not portable
Still not portable. Writes settings to:
HKCU\Software\SimonTatham\PuTTY\SshHostKeys
HKCU\Software\FTPWare\msftpsrvr\core-msftpsrvr-1.19
and the user/local/temp folder
A cleanup tool or JauntePE could probably make this program portable.
Re: Core Mini SFTP server
[Moderator note: the client version has been given it's own thread.]
Re: Core Mini SFTP server
Rechecked v1.2 build 543 with the -flash argument ... still writing to HKCU\Software\FTPWare\msftpsrvr\core-msftpsrvr-1.19
Re: Core Mini SFTP server
So many great tools are available for online collaboration and but a dead-simple that works with few dependencies and secure tools is still hugely useful when those services fail, break down, have file ceilings, don't support batch operations, etc. As such I've kept an eye on Core Mini SFTP server.
Unfortunately, the program is still not portable.
New version details:
August 29th, 2018
path <root path> command line parameter added
Permission / timestamp issue fixed
Cumulative updates

Re: Core Mini SFTP server
This looks like a nice and very simple-to-use SFTP server. Thanks for suggesting, webfork!
I might use yAP to clear the reg entry when I find the need to use this app down the line.
Awhile back, I used Serva as a FTP server and I hated it.

is it stealth?
Re: Core Mini SFTP server
Did you ask them about it? Seems like a such a trivial thing to switch from registry to ini.

Serva's wasn't bad in my tests (I bought it so I could use one of its functions commercially), but I definitely prefer Core.
It's been a few years now so I'm not sure if I dropped them a note or not. Theyr'e still doing updates so it might be worth it.

Re: Core Mini SFTP server
Had a chance to test this as I needed to transfer some files between computers on a local network and didn't want to use a USB drive.
It really is barebones! The interface only shows connected IPs, but doesn't show what type of current transfers are occurring. The only way to tell if any transfers are happening is to open up Task Manager and checking the Network tab.
It would be great to also show the local IP of the current machine somewhere in the UI. This would help for passing on the FTP credentials. I had to go to ipconfig to find my IP.
Because it is so barebones, memory and CPU usage is really minimal. It never peaked higher than 6 MB for RAM and CPU was very low.
Other than that, Core Mini SFTP server does its job and does it well.
