joytokey

Submit portable freeware that you find here. It helps if you include information like description, extraction instruction, Unicode support, whether it writes to the registry, and so on.

joytokey

#1 Post by JFish »

I saw joytokey (http://www.oneswitch.org.uk/2/I/JoyToKey/JoyToKey.htm) only mentioned in passing on the Super Mario Brothers War posting from 2006. I think it is a pretty cool little application that maps keyboard keys and mouse inputs to a joystick of your choosing. It is freeware and appears to be completely portable. I think it should be considered for your site. Let me know if you agree ...

Wow, isn't this on here already?

I feel really guilty about ot submitting it ages ago ow.

This is a great app, the best and easiest profiler I've used
and it is totally portable.

I;ve used it every day for years for loads of things from games to desktop mouse emulation and reading pdf and cbr's (Saves your fingers on cold nights)

I think it deserves a place here

JoytoKey entry question...

#4 Post by JFish »

I am glad to see that JoytoKey made it onto the site:

JoyToKey V3.7.4

I am just curious if I am searching the forum correctly. I see that the attribution is to Fluffy (not that I care) but it made me wonder since that was my first submission if I am not looking in the right place before I make a post.

Nah, I'm just an idiot. I generally check first, but didn't this time. Sorry JFish, fixed now. Or should I give credit to Local? Sorry folks, I try to be a bit more on top of stuff than this. :(

No credit to me Jfish posted this one, I'm afraid I've been greedy and kept it to myself all this time :( I didn't mean to though, honest.

As if I didn't feel bad enough about that though I've just been converted.
Xpadder really kicks arse.I tried it in one game where ol' faithful failed me and haven't looked back since.

XPadder is indeed quite amazing and I hope that whoever buys it ends up keeping it free and portable. :)

XPadder doesn't have it's own thread (which I can fix if needed) but just wanted to point out that v. 2013.07.18 is now commercial: http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/Sys ... dder.shtml

So the Xpadder's dev took Fluffy's recommendation completely in reverse -- you can't even download the latest version without buying it... :(

Any links to the last freeware? Luckily JoyToKey is still available -- although its TPFC entry is still private: http://www.portablefreeware.com/?id=1402.

Old thread update:

I still really like the idea of buying a 10 year old game controller and using it as a desktop productivity tool. As such, one such tool that might be able to take the place of various tools mentioned over time:

AntiMicro: https://github.com/AntiMicro/antimicro

A "portable" version that uses PortableApp's wrapper (untested) is also available: https://sourceforge.net/projects/antimicroportable/

I saw a similar program, found this thread, and decided it wasn't worth listing. But I did find the last freeware version over at MajorGeeks:

www.majorgeeks.com /files/details/xpadder_(last_freeware_version).html

And here's a list of possible alternatives: https://alternativeto.net/software/xpadder/ ...
