When adding/editing entries, there's a list of common types of licenses to choose form.
Some of them use links but http and not https.
Can you please fix this per the new standard nowadays?
Also, please fix it retroactively in the database.
But in addition: http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl.html should be fixed to https://www.gnu.org/licenses/licenses.html#GPL
The former link assumes the software uses GPLv3 which is far from true, as many softwares still use GPLv2.
The latter link is better since it doesn't choose a specific version.
Thanks!
Updating the links in common types of licenses
Re: Updating the links in common types of licenses
I happen to disagree with my fellow Mod, as I think lwc's suggestions make perfect sense.

Re: Updating the links in common types of licenses
The GPL bit makes sense. As the HTTP -> HTTPS might be problematic as it could break some links -- we have a lot of licenses listed and some may not support TLS. It might be doable but it's only something Andrew could execute on. I'll make sure he's aware.

EDIT: The HTTPS Everywhere plugin will help auto-select for secure connections: https://www.eff.org/https-everywhere

Related entries in database updated.billon wrote: ↑Tue Sep 17, 2019 11:32 pm If updating, http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl.html => https://www.gnu.org/licenses/licenses.html#LicenseURLs
http://www.freebsd.org/copyright/freebsd-license.html => https://www.freebsd.org/copyright/freebsd-license.html
That's all
URLs in edit screen also updated.

Thanks for the swift solution.
