I've seen many of these features elsewhere but the Data Recovery and separate verify element really grabbed me. Any idea why it might be defaulting to Spanish and how to switch?

Recovery is a premium/pro feature as I see. No idea why it defaults to Spanish, perhaps it is a bug. Try deleting all the lng files.

BurnAware Free v7.0 released (changelog: http://www.burnaware.com/whats-new/).

IMHO, main limitation is lack of disk to disk copy -- BurnAware Free also can't rip audio CDs to WAV, but there are plenty of other tools for that...
