Despite Double Commander is still labelled Beta it is very stable (at least in my tests). The same is the situation with Just Manager (labelled Alpha) but is seems to be abandoned.

Nice program indeed, but I can't get "cm_GoToFirstFile" to work as I want it to work. I want to assign a shortcut to "jump to the first" file in the file panel but instead it just jumps to the top of the file panel just like home does (so it goes to the [..] instead of the first actual file).

Seems as fast or faster than before. Launches almost instantly, even when loading a 32GB directory on start. Probably will test this again.

I just figured out that Double Commander has an included recursive hash generator and verify capability:

As the program is cross-platform, this makes it a very effective integrity checker.

Double Commander at version 0.7.7 Beta, latest changes, full change log, version 0.7.7 - downloads - x32, version 0.7.7 - downloads - x64.

Edit
I doubt whether Double Commander will ever get out of Beta. Are Beta programs allowed to be submitted to the database?

Some developers decide to stay in the forever-beta stage (e.g. FileBackupEx) for a variety of reasons, but I suspect DoubleCommander's developer does it so he can release small changes frequently and make whatever changes without users getting upset.

As to our policy, yes you can submit Beta-level programs. We have a few in the database including Bvckup and Y'z Dock, but technically any program that starts with version version number of 0.x could be considered beta. The convention on this is blurry.

Over time I've noticed that open source beta programs are quite reliable, and in fact DoubleCommander is on my list to add.

This is mostly for Mac/Linux users but this program will create LZMA and XZ formats which use similar high-compression formats to 7zip and can be opened by most programs including 7zip. The Windows version has a 7zip creator but the Mac version does not (yet).
