Yeah it's definitely too low considering the audio/video quality and serverless, open format. I like Softpedia a lot but I don't put a lot of stock in their reviews.

Yes, and we must have in mind that the reviews are written by different people with different notions. I remember I have seen the installer version of a program rated 5/5 and the portable version of the same program- 3.5/5. I can illustrate such a discrepancy with AkelPad- the installer version is rated 4/5- AkelPad, while the portable version is rated 5/5- Portable AkelPad. I think that even more drastic examples can be found at Softpedia.

For the first time I found something I didn't like in Isotoxin, the new title bar buttons introduced in version 0.3.417.

The old title bar icons prior to version 0.3.417- those I like:
Isotoxin 0.3.414 - title bar buttons - 2016-02-01 - 002.png
Isotoxin 0.3.414 - title bar buttons - 2016-02-01 - 002.png (2.69 KiB) Viewed 62951 times
The new title bars icons that appeared for the first time in version 0.3.417:
Isotoxin 0.3.417 - title bar buttons - 2016-02-01 - 002.png

This may be a minor change but I found it ugly.

However the new dark theme is cute (in my opinion):

On my whimsical request about restoring the old title bar icons the developer was extremely kind to create a special version (0.3.419) in which he re-created the themes with the old title bar buttons- more about it in this Isotoxin Forum thread (at the bottom).

Now the users can also export the Tox ID and it can be used with other Tox clients (more about it in the same forum thread mentioned above).

Isotoxin version 0.3.424 has been released, changes:
- spellchecker (english and russian dictionaries are in pack)
- better video quality with isotoxin-isotoxin video calls (see notes)
- power user option
- GUI theme inheritance supported
- simple markdown syntax supported ( **, ~~, __, *, _ )
- bugfix: png files not shown in image file selection dialog
- cosmetic: added shadow to inline images
- bugfix: rare plghost.exe crash during video call
- fullscreen video
- incoming call accept panel (like skype)

Release notes

You can download addition spellcheck dictionaries here. Create spellcheck folder in Isotoxin working folder and put .aff and .dic files into it and restart Isotoxin. New dictionaries will be loaded automatically.

Isotoxin now uses enhanced video encoding and transmition for video calls to Isotoxin 0.3.424 and higher. There are bug in toxcore, which leads to loss of connection on high transmission rate with low bandwidth of communication channel. So, if you use tor for tox, it could be better to turn off encanced video support. It can be done in advanced settings. Also (in advanced settings) you can enable vp9 codec, but it is bad idea. Encoding speed of vp9 is very slow.
Note:
If someone wants to use the old title bar icons, just download the otb.data file and put it into Isotoxin program folder.

It is easy to import a Tox profile from qTox, this can be done either from Isotoxin main menu:
- Join network:
Isotoxin 0.3.437 - 2016-04-17 - 006.png
or from Settings- Networks:
- Add new network connection:
Isotoxin 0.3.437 - 2016-04-17 - 008.png
Then from Select network menu choose Tox protocol and then- Import configuration from file:
Isotoxin 0.3.437 - 2016-04-17 - 010.png
and select a Tox profile file (name.tox).
Isotoxin can connect to several networks/profiles simultaneously.

Thanks.

Is this your preferred Tox client?

BTW, Isotoxin default configuration is set to autocheck for updates. This can be changed under Settings though.
