BBCeditor

BBCeditor is a simple editor for BBcode which allows you to easily create a collection of posts for various forum boards. The biggest advantage of this editor is that you can always write some nice responses when your Internet connection is down and post them later into your favourite board. You can keep your writing history in this way.

Microsoft .NET 2.0 framework is required.

(I tested version BBCeditor v1.0.30.0)

Good suggestion. Recommended for for frequent posters to our forum and those like it. Few notes:
  • Has all sorts of BBCode items I never knew about
  • Preview is not live - you have to click "refresh" in the top right corner under the "Help" button (or just hit F5)
  • Appears to use an Internet Explorer preview window

Under Tools>Settings>Appearance there are three options for the "Automatic preview": Do not refresh (only F5 refreshes), Refresh when text changes and Refresh each: .. seconds.

Re: Some portable DotNET apps

Somewhat akin to DropIO, but requiring DotNET 4.0, here's File Mover v1.0...

Image

Download at http://www.filemover.co/.
EDIT: File Mover latest release is v1.5, site moved, portability status unknown (changelog is at http://www.filemover.co/change-log/).
BTW, I am the only one finding that Autover, requiring only DotNET 2.0, is a worthy candidate for an entry in the database?

Was writing up a post that required some complex formatting, so I pulled up this program to try and make it easier to work with. While a good introduction to various BBcode options, it's incomplete: the preview function looks nothing like what happens here on the site and there's no undo function.

Will go back and try a similar program mentioned by Baas last year: WYSIWYG BBCode Editor.

Nowadays most Forums/Sites have a good set of BBCode editing tools inbuilt into the simple editor. Maybe there was a need for this 2 years ago, but not now.

Rumshot isn’t your average screenshot utility. Rumshot uses themes to generate stylish screenshot previews, in addition to saving your screenshot in a number of formats.

Rumshot.xml and Rumshot.xml.backup in user\current\AppData\Roaming\Rumshot
Rumshot Screenshots and Rumshot Themes folders in "My Documents"

Oddly, the noinstall version wouldn't start on my Win7x64 machine.
Same here :o

It did run properly on my XP machine.
Works on 7.64. The first post was updated to include links to a new Website, newer version(s) release and screenshots.

I was surprised that a screenshot program didn't have more -- you know -- screenshots.

Softpedia had 2 more:

Re: My Startup Delayer

#28 Post by Midas »

I've been a user of R2 Startup Delayer since before its DotNET days, but unfortunately it is neither portable (never was) nor is it completely free anymore.

System integration might be understandable in utilities whose express purpose is to interact with the Windows registry; nonetheless, here's a free (and 'portable') alternative...

My Startup Delayer: http://www.myportablesoftware.com/mystartupdelayer.aspx

32 bit only, requires .NET Framework 2.0/3.5 (which one is it, I don't know); writes to 'HKLM\Software\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run'.

Portable DotNET apps -- VueMinder Lite USB

#29 Post by Midas »

Apparently VueSoft VueMinder Lite USB fits nicely here, as its homepage states a requirement of DotNET v4.0 -- I haven't tested it, but here's the details...
http://www.vueminder.com/ wrote:VueMinder, the best calendar app for Windows. Take control of your schedule and get reminded wherever and however you want. Instantly access your appointments, tasks, and notes with a simple glance at a transparent calendar that sits right on your Windows desktop. Share calendars and reminders in your home, office, or online. Automatically synchronize with Google Calendar and Outlook. Print calendars using a wide variety of layouts and styles. You can do all these things and much more with VueMinder.

VueMinder version comparison matrix is at http://www.vueminder.com/index.php?page ... comparison.

The homepage download link for VueMinder Lite USB (currently v11.2.1) directs you to C|Net, but you're better off using Softpedia: http://www.softpedia.com/get/Office-too ... -USB.shtml

On VueMinder: this softpedia article on this makes it look REALLY sharp:

http://www.softpedia.com/get/Office-too ... Lite.shtml

... but some of the features I really need in a calendar and task management program are only available in the Pro version, which is USD $50. Given that Outlook is MUCH more than that, I understand why they're charging that much but it still stings.

I'll test and post again.
