Don't know, it came with the original rar file so it was archived along with it. I'm guessing a readme file in authors native language perhaps? Would have removed it if it were an executable, but being as it's a txt file I saw no harm leaving it intact.

I do not know if this application is desktop only or if it is usable on a laptop,
but with (Monoff's) default settings on my Vista Sp2 laptop I only got monitor flickering.
Works fine on all three of my laptops. I'm guessing it's down to your laptop's power management settings/software. Monoff will send command to power down monitor whilst power management software will counteract it maybe?

It was sort of spammy so I zapped it. But the non-portable version was identical to the one I had so I'm going to assume the other file is authentic. No virus problems.

I tested under Win7 x64. You might check your monitor settings as well, but my guess is that its sending a system command that some monitors just don't support.

Have just checked and it appears "Baca Saya" is Malay for "Read Me". You learn something useless everyday.

I was unaware the dropbox link went down. No idea why, the file is still hosted there.

All it would have taken is a quick PM to let me know and it would have been sorted same day. I don't tend to check the forums as frequently as some.

Monoff4 ( available at https://web.archive.org/web/20190304013 ... onoff4.zip as mentioned above ) has a VirusTotal score of : 5-66.
A possible alternative to monoff4, could be:
http://gizmoware.net/monoff/ (VirusTotal score: 0-68).
Note that this a CLI tool.

I have tried monoff downloaded from gizmoware.net .... I like it and I am going to use it every night.
To be honest, I cannot say that gizmoware monoff is an alternative to monoff4 from https://web.archive.org/web/20190304013 ... onoff4.zip since I am not going to take the risk of running monoff4 even it is most probably a false positive !!!

Of those 5, main ones are Avast and AVG -- the remainder include such household names as Avira, Bitdefender, Eset, Microsoft, and MalwareBytes, which report the file as "undetected"...

Also among the tags attributed by VT: "direct-cpu-clock-access", "invalid-rich-pe-checksum", and "long-sleeps".

Lastly, let me note Archive.org made the mirror snapshot from long time TPFC member tproli's website.
