Portable Firewall X-isafer

#1 Post by TPFC Fan »

Hi,
i found it on the winpenpack page.

http://www.winpenpack.com/main/download.php?view.548

isafer homepage http://isafer.sourceforge.net/

Havent tried it yet, because im running another firewall...
...and i prefer to let someone else ruin his system first :D

So, does anyone tried this firewall and can tell if its really portable,
and working?

greets

I tried it, but couldn't get the firewall to work at all. The network application don't seem to be affected at all, even when I set the firewall priority to "High" so that all ports are blocked.

I would also be interested to hear if anyone else has gotten this to work.

What is the top freeware antivirus and firewall software around? I have tried Kaspersky which is an all in one protection suite but I found it slowed down my computer and wasn't worth the price I paid for.

AV: ClamWin is slow but the best on the site (http://www.portablefreeware.com/index.php?id=601). I've seen around online about a portable AVG, but can't point you to anything.

Firewall: Sadly, there isn't one. The closest to a portable firewall is probably is PeerBlock http://www.portablefreeware.com/index.php?id=1559.

DC Firewall is portable and well, I like it.

It works well and you can add rules to it. \

edit: note that it's a few years since update... but it works for xp since xp hasnt been updated in as long lol. Don't know about newer windows... I dont have them to test on

DCFirewall has been discontinued as stated on the SourceForge site. If anyone knows Visual Basic it would be a great opportunity to pick up where the project left off.
THIS PROJECT IS NO LONGER UNDER DEVELOPMENT.

Old topic update:

There's also X-FirewallPAPI 1.4 [rev1] but it hasn't been updated since 2006.
