Help with this software (naturalreaders)

#1 Post by bobmillfield »

I have been trying without success to convert a free screen reader to portable format for use by a boy who is dyslexic. He uses the software on his own computer but the school do not have it. It would be very good if he could get a portable version. I would be grateful if some one out there could have a look at it and see if they could manage to convert it. It is avaiable at http://www.naturalreaders.com/free_version.htm
Alternatively if anyone could suggest a similar portable screen reader I would be grateful. I have tried the portable version of NVDA and Di Speech both of which work OK but they are limited in application and NVDA is tricky to use.

Yasr is a light-weight, portable console screen reader for Linux and other Unix-type operating systems. It uses no Linuxisms and is easy to install. It supports several speech synthesizers.

you can use jauntpe to make it portable

here's a launcher I used to test if it would work.
http://www.mediafire.com/?zmkzzm4mnjj
copy the files from the program folder to the App folder
You have to install program though to get files, couldn't get it to work with universal extractor. (Sandboxie works if you don't want to install it to HDD)
But im not sure how legal it is to use launcher with program though... don't know rules/laws on things like this lol

DSpeech is a portable freeware found on this site that seems to work as well as natural reader from what i can see so it would be a better choice i think
