K2PdfOpt - modify PDFs to fit readers

#1 Post by webfork »

This slipped past me on softpedia so I was really happy to see Ghacks highlight it ... a cross-platform program for modifying DjVu and PDF files to fit on a reader (such as the Kindle)

Not portable, writes to HKCU\Environment

Found another GUI for the program ... works with both PDF and DJVU

At this writing it doesn't look like much is happening with this program and it's a freeware front-end so I'll pass on testing it for the moment, but wanted to list here for reference.

Happy to see this program is still in development and looks like it's getting a lot of nice changes since my first test:

How the hell did you notice that? I almost never look at the added values, only keys. Do you use regshot or something else?
I actually use a process that I was thinking was a little outdated. Zsoft Uninstaller has a before-and-after registry watcher that works well.

K2pdfOpt https://www.willus.com/k2pdfopt/
Latest update: v.2.55 Dec26 2023

DESCRIPTION: K2pdfopt optimizes PDF/DJVU files for mobile e-readers (e.g. the Kindle) and smartphones. It works well on multi-column PDF/DJVU files and can re-flow text even on scanned PDF files. It can also be used as a general PDF copying/cropping/re-sizing/OCR-ing manipulation tool. It can generate native or bitmapped PDF output, with an optional OCR layer. There are downloads for MS Windows, Mac OSX, and Linux. The MS Windows version has an integrated GUI. K2pdfopt is open source.
