Glary Utilities Free

#1 Post by joby_toss »

Glary Utilities Free has now an official portable version (free for private use).
Get it here, on the other builds page:
http://www.glaryutilities.com/builds.html

These are some reg keys created and left behind for a reason beyond our understanding capabilities (apparently).

Code: Select all

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\GlarySoft\Glary Utilities]
"Windows ID"="39721,6716209028"

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\GlarySoft\Glary Utilities]
"Portable"=dword:00000001
"RefVersion"="2008-09-18"
"LngVersion"="2008-09-18"
"UpdateDate"=""
"Current Page"=dword:00000000
"Current View"=dword:00000002
"Language"="english.lng"
"RegName"=""
"Regcode"="########"
"RootDir"="C:\\Downloaduri\\Glary_Utilities_Free_portable\\App\\"
Maybe my unborn grandson will make good use of them when he'll inherit this laptop, 20-30 years from now (i could think of nothing else).

"Our very own" Lococobra has had a portable version on his website for a while now... check out http://portable.lococobra.com/, it's the second program down on the page.

I don't claim to know much, but his (L's) stuff seems top-notch to me!

i've tried the latest version, and when it starts it creates a key in the registry with a few entries, but they are deleted as soon as you close it.i guess this is an accepted behavior, right?

For TaskSwitchXP, that wasn't enough. WinPenPack's version of this software deleted the entries but the software still wasn't accepted as portable. Here's the thread on the topic.

Note that it might not have been accepted as portable for other reasons (maybe just overlooked).
