Synopsis: A really simple program, pretty good file support. It also enables image smoothing disable, which is a (minor) issue with JPEGview (viewtopic.php?p=62997#p62997)
Requires: dotNET 4.6s
Issues:
* Open in external editor didn't work
* Saves no settings between sessions, so I couldn't modify the background at startup
Wishlist:
* Rotation options
* Auto-sizing
* Open license
Status: Portable, writes no settings.

Pixx - image viewer
Pixx
Preamble
There are all kinds of portable image viewers for every taste- feature-rich, sophisticated ones and simple, bare-bones programs. Some time ago I came upon a very basic but promising one- Pixx, it does not offer much but is light and works well. As far as I know there are users who like such plain and easy programs which do not offer much customization but do the job they are designed for well.
Synopsis

Portability
Pixx is portable by design- it saves no settings, it does not write to AppData and to Windows registy. The log file (Pixx.exe.log) is not created by Pixx but by CLR (Common Language Runtime).
Instructions
Pixx works under Windows 7 or higher and it requires .NET Framework 4.5 or higher.
License
Pixx is closed-source, unrestricted freeware.
Note
Pixx is tiny- it is 2.80 MB uncompressed (the executable- Pixx.exe, is only 168 KB).
Pixx is light- under Windows 8 x64 it uses about 25 MB of RAM.
I tested Pixx with normal and password-protected ZIP and 7Z archives and it did work fine with both.
I have several ideas for enhancement of the program but the developer cannot be contacted.
Alternatives
A couple of programs with similar functionality:

Synopsis
FeaturesPixx is a humble image viewer, it's small, fast and feature packed.
With Pixx, you'll be able to view your images. And that's all.
Links DownloadsTHE ULTIMATE IMAGE VIEWER
Display your pictures with a customizable level of zoom and navigate larger images easily, just by dragging them around.
32-bit PNG images with alpha transparency are fully supported.
PRACTICAL NAVIGATION
Move around large image collections easily, just open an image and all the other supported files on the same folder will be added to the navigation list.
Use the toolbar buttons or the arrow keys on your keyboard to change the current image.
You may also open the navigation panel to choose an specific image.
EXTERNAL EDITOR
Open the currently selected image on your favorite editor.
Pixx autodetects some of the most popular graphic editors but you may also add your own applications.
COMIC BOOK FILE SUPPORT
Do you have a large collection of compressed comic book files?
Pixx has support for CBZ, CBR and CB7 formats as well as compressed image libraries (ZIP, RAR and 7Z).
These formats can be navigated as if they were regular folders, without extracting your images!
AND SPEAKING OF ARCHIVE FORMATS...
Pixx supports encrypted archives, so when you open one of these files you'll be prompted for the correct password.
Isn't that awesome?
SCALING MODES
If you work with pixel-art images, you'll notice that other viewers tend to smooth them when you zoom in or out.
With Pixx, you can choose between two filtering options: Interpolate (good for regular images) and Pixel-perfect (good for pixel-art).
No more blurries!
SWITCHABLE BACKGROUND
Pixx has three background modes: Transparent, light and dark.
You can switch between them in a fast and easy way, so your images will always look perfect no matter which background color the have.
ANIMATED GIF FILES
Meme lovers, we heard you.
Starting from version 1.2, Pixx has support for animated GIF files.

Re: Pixx
@smaragdus: Thanks and - f*** you, too
Re: Pixx
So I posted about this before but there's almost no comparison my initial note and your very thorough review. Anyway, I merged the two threads.
Thanks for the update and all the detail -- the program seems to have come a long way since I initially posted about it.
Does it support APNG?

Re: Pixx
@webfork
Thanks for merging the threads and please excuse me for the double post- I have somehow missed yours, I am sorry.
Unfortunately Pixx does not support animated PNG (APNG) and this is one of the features I would like to suggest to the developer but unfortunately he cannot be contacted.
