It unfortunately requires iTunes to connect to iOS devices, but so do all programs like this.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SynciosSyncios is a media player, online video downloader, mobile data transfer, handset ringtone maker, and mobile device management software developed by Anvsoft Inc. It is used to play, download, and organize digital audio and video; transfer data between mobile phones, tablets and personal computers running the OS X or Microsoft Windows operating systems.
Status: Not portable. Writes to \USER\AppData\Roaming\SyncDroid and \USER\.android
Caveat: It's 200 megs

Does it actually work? Unknown; I'll setup a VM to install iTunes on and hopefully post here again.

EDIT: I was avoiding installing iTunes on my main machine because it's big and leaves a lot of junk behind, but another reason to run iTunes inside a VM: to help resist ongoing security issues.
