PolyEdit Lite - Tiny Word Processor

#1 Post by NunoSilva »

It is not Portable neither Stealth, but it is tiny, nimble, compatible and quite feature rich:
- Formats page, paragraphs and fonts,
- Reads RTF, DOC, DOCX and writes RTF and DOC.
- Works with tables, accepts pictures, symbols (has its own charmap) and embedded objects,
- Does spell checking in several languages (addict dictionaries).

* PoliEdit Lite
https://polyedit.com/free.html
Writes to %AppData%\Roaming\PolyEdit Lite and also into the registry.
I use it because it realy does not matter in my work - just as long as it runs from an USB device or a CD with me as Guest, no Admin privileges required.
Might someone attempt to portabilize it? :mrgreen: :?:

Yes, PoliEdit Lite is chock full of useful features - but have you noticed its size?
Out of the box, is less than 4 Megabytes.
And even with a bunch of dictionaries (English/US/UK/CA/AU, French, Spanish, Portuguese and Italian) it clocks at less tha 12 Mega!
Eat your heart out Micro$oft... :oops:

Should someone be able to Portabilize PolyEdit, it would make a GREAT addition to the database under word processors. :idea:

I would be a little concerned that the last (beta) version dates back to 2010, but that may be subject to individual needs and uses.

Download yaP and use this as a configuration file:

Code: Select all

[GENERAL]
application = App\PolyEdit.exe

[BEFORE]
dir = "%Appdata%\PolyEdit Lite"
regkey = HKCU\Software\PolySoft

[AFTER]
-dir = "%Appdata%\PolyEdit Lite" :: ifempty
-regkey = HKCU\Software\PolySoft :: ifempty
File structure should look like this:

TC is simply the best! I use it on my main PC, but on my USB stick I use FreeCommander 'cause I try to avoid any paid apps on my portable suite.
