The emerging lesson, after Google Code and now Codeplex untimely demises, seems to be "never place all your eggs in one basket".
Take it from Stanford Uni and the Library of Congress (e.g., see https://www.lockss.org/) and do LOCKSS -- "Lots Of Copies Keep Stuff Safe"...

That's for sure. Hopefully Codeplex will do something similar to Google Code and maintain a read-only copy of all data.
