Annoyingly, SysInternals' powers-that-be no longer deem worth their while to provide a changelog of their recent releases.

@ __philippe do you know is there gonna be any effort made to correct this? I'm kinda surprised cuz I have always thought of SysInternals as being a first rate top notch entity, but they are not showing that in this case.Even if the changelogs are only interesting or necessary to a few people in my opinion that reason enough to continue with accurate data.

Process Explorer is an advanced task manager. It is an indispensable tool for both beginners and power users. I use it all the time to kill tasks that refuse to be killed, or find what which processes are still holding on to a particular file or DLL so it refuses to be deleted.

DTaskManager adds additional features above Windows' native Task Manager including batch termination and control over even protected system processes. The program can suspend and reactivate processes (useful for effectively "pausing" a program without closing) as well as automatically managing process priority. When ending a program, three different ways are available to kill a processes, including End, Quit, Kill and Kill Process Override for even increasingly stubborn programs.
Note: To save settings check "Save on exit" under the "Options" menu.

@Midas Oops Duh, I guess ya gotta be smarter than the software which I was not. lol Thanks for the heads up^ |
SuperF4 allows users to kill the foreground program when the key combination Ctrl+Alt+F4 is pressed. This is different from programs that respond to Windows' normal "close" hotkey Alt+F4, which only asks the foreground program to exit. This is important because many programs don't cooperate with a close request due to a bug, nag screens, or other issues.
Additionally, you can also kill a process by pressing Win+F4 and then clicking the window you wish to kill with your mouse. This mode behaves like xkill for GNU/Linux, BSD etc.

Released 1.4.
I apologize for my tardiness. I use Windows less and less every year, and I must confess that I have not even been running my own programs when I do. I hope this release makes up for it somewhat. |
System Explorer is a tool for accessing a variety of system internals. It can also be used as a Task Manager replacement with detailed information about processes, startup entries, explorer/IE add-ons, uninstallers, services, drivers, connections, opened files etc. It has a registry/file snapshot feature so that changes to the system can be computed and displayed in tree view or text list format. It also has a processes security tool that checks your processes against an online database.
Alternatively, System Explorer Portable is available.

Process Hacker is still being updated through so-called nightly builds: see forum topic or https://processhacker.sourceforge.io/nightly.php. |
DBC Task Manager provides a tabbed interface for usage statistics and system management. Views can be customized, minimized, and tweaked to user needs. The program shows a histogram of CPU, memory, disk, and network activity, as well as an interface for services and startup programs.
The program is similar to Windows 8 task manager, but can run on Windows 7. A 64-bit version is available (within the folder).

Nice find! I've always liked the Windows 8 task manager. |
Daphne is a task manager replacement with a variety of extra features. It displays a list of currently running process with detailed information about: CPU usage, Process ID, Process name, Full path (and arguments), Priority, Class (Process / Service), Current memory usage, Peek memory usage, Current swap usage, Peek swap usage and Number of threads.
Additionally, the program has a crosshair that can be dragged onto existing windows to Find, Kill, put on top, change transparrency, and even enable/disable. A "trap" feature lets you modify or prioritize processes whenever they appear.
Alternatively, Daphne Portable is also available

My task manager of choice for corralling processes and killing processes that need to go, but takes up a lot of processor power to run on my Win7x64 system. As a result, despite some of the cool monitoring tools included, I generally run it to do something and then immediately close. Also, as many have pointed out, this program really needs a manual.
