Annoyingly, SysInternals' powers-that-be no longer deem worth their while to provide a changelog of their recent releases.

@ __philippe do you know is there gonna be any effort made to correct this? I'm kinda surprised cuz I have always thought of SysInternals as being a first rate top notch entity, but they are not showing that in this case.Even if the changelogs are only interesting or necessary to a few people in my opinion that reason enough to continue with accurate data. |

DTaskManager adds additional features above Windows' native Task Manager including batch termination and control over even protected system processes. The program can suspend and reactivate processes (useful for effectively "pausing" a program without closing) as well as automatically managing process priority. When ending a program, three different ways are available to kill a processes, including End, Quit, Kill and Kill Process Override for even increasingly stubborn programs.
Note: To save settings check "Save on exit" under the "Options" menu.

@Midas Oops Duh, I guess ya gotta be smarter than the software which I was not. lol Thanks for the heads up^ |
Process Explorer is an advanced task manager. It is an indispensable tool for both beginners and power users. I use it all the time to kill tasks that refuse to be killed, or find what which processes are still holding on to a particular file or DLL so it refuses to be deleted.
Alternatively, Process Explorer Portable is also available, which is stealth.

Glad to report Process Explorer v16.22 still runs merrily under WinXP,

I don't think it is portable. I just reinstalled Windows 7 and after launching Process Explorer i found that all settings are lost.

@Peter202: as noted above, Process Explorer saves settings to the Windows registry so is in fact not conventionally portable. It has been allowed, though, due to its nature and the trivial settings kept. If you want complete portability, check the Portable Apps package, also linked in the entry. |
