VirtualDub Portable v1.10.4

Midas on 16 Jun 2015
  • 2MB (uncompressed)
  • Released on 27 Oct 2013
  • Suggested by Andrew Lee

VirtualDub is a video capture/processing utility. It lacks the editing power of a general-purpose editor such as Adobe Premiere, but is great for video capture and transcoding via third-party video codecs. It can also read MPEG-1 video files by default but requires Plugins Pack to open more types of video (adds FLIC, FLV, Matroska, MPEG-2, AC-3 and WMV).

VirtualDub Portable is a PortableApps.com format wrapper for VirtualDub. Alternatively, X-VirtualDub is also available.

Category:
Runs on: WinXP / Vista / Win7 / Win8
Writes settings to: Application folder
Dependencies: Video codecs such as DivX, XVID, etc.
Stealth: ? Yes
Unicode support: Partial. VirtualDub supports unicode, but the PortableApps launcher doesn't.
License: GPL
How to extract:
  1. Download the self-extracting EXE and extract to a folder of your choice
  2. Optionally, extract the Plugins Pack to the same destination directory
  3. Launch VirtualDubPortable.exe
What's new?
  • ExtEnc: Added %(outputbasename) to insert output filename without extension.

@Joe: Try to edit the "VirtualDubPortable.ini" file from the "VirtualDubPortable\App\AppInfo\Launcher" folder by commenting/removing the following line: "ProgramExecutable64=VirtualDub64\VeeDub64.exe".

Joe on 2015-06-16 23:52

@joby_toss,

That worked. You are a genius!! Thank you.

There is also a yaP config @ http://rolandtoth.hu/yaP/#examples/VirtualDub.ini

It's for 32bit VirtualDub, so to use with x64, change App\VirtualDub.exe to App\Veedub64.exe

Sorry, errata corrige (info's missing here on portablefreeware): you can avoid the user's %localappdata% folder entries renaming "x264_launcher.exe" into "x264_launcher_portable.exe".

@siegfried: Thanks ... and changed ;)

can anyone give an example for a broken avi please ? i'm not really sure if i will ever need such program.....maybe you know if vlc player can handle broken files without that utility ? thanks !!

Death on 2008-12-30 03:50

For pam!: example is, files which are downloading from emule or bittorrent. Try to open with VLC. Then seek to the middle. You will see black screens. But with divfix++, there is no such black screens, gaps at all :)

2 Alex I believe the difference is a launcher designed to clean up after shutdown of the program.

That said I have no idea how good the x launched applications are
