VVV is an application that catalogs the content of removable volumes like CD and DVD disks for off-line searching. This allows you to keep an index of all the files on multiple drives and optical media in a single location. Folders and files can also be arranged in a single, virtual file system. Each folder of this virtual file system can contain files from many disks so you can arrange your data in a simple and logical way. VVV also stores metadata information from MP3 files: author, title, album and so on.
Export to spreadsheet (CSV format) available.
VVV Portable is a PortableApps version of the original program.

@Wolfghost - All our apps have an INI that lets you disable the splash. You can disable them all in the PortableApps.com Platform in the Options window as well. Unless the splash is built into the app itself, of course, like GIMP et al, in which case you need to follow the directions for disabling the splash in the base app. |
Data Crow is a powerful media cataloger and organizer that allows users to manage all their audio, software, book, movie and photo collections in one customizable tool. The program can create a huge database containing all your collected items. Connects with online services like Amazon, IMDB, Softpedia and MusicBrainz to retrieve media information and avoid manual entry. An optional internal web server and web interface can import file information (mp3, divx, xvid etc.) and enable reporting (HTML and PDF).
The program is modular to allow inclusion of new collection types (e.g. stamps, coins, action figures).
Both 32 and 64-bit versions included. Functional on Mac/Linux machines with Java installed.

Snap2HTML takes a "snapshot" of folder structures on your harddrive and saves to an HTML file. The output is a modern, application-like view that feels like a real application, similar to Explorer. The program uses a treeview with folders that you can click to view the contained files. Directory data can also be saved as text, CSV (spreadsheet), or JSON.

Update on my comment of 2019-04-27 regarding Snap2HTML on Linux/WINE. |
Cathy indexes files stored on removable media (CD's, DVD's or even diskettes), hard disks or net drives, to create searchable catalogs that can be used without having access to original media. The program is small, fast and easy-to-use with search capabilities based on file name, date and size. Additional features include filtering options, search duplicates or singles, customisable date format etc.
If files are available (external/network drive connected, DVD inserted) they can be opened (executed) or deleted directly. Other features include drag and drop support available, printing of both directory trees and MP3 album/song lists, and disk space usage analysis.

This program is great. I can't believe Windows is now so convoluted that the basic out of the box search works so poorly. |
DriveSort directly reads directory tables of FAT12/FAT16/FAT32 formatted volumes, allowing users to view file listings in the order they were written.
Recent operating systems re-sort file lists before display, either by name, by size, or by whatever the user chooses. However, the firmware of playing devices -- like small MP3 players, for example -- sometimes behaves differently, mostly because they lack necessary resources (CPU, memory), a problem developers usually solve by dis/playing files in the order they are written on the storage medium -- normally, the order they were added.
Additionally, DriveSort is able to change that ordering, making itself useful for re-arranging movies, series episodes, audio or picture files on FATx formatted media; afterwards, players will be able to reproduce files in the expected sequence.

Hello everyone. This is a very useful tool!!! |
Belvedere is an automated file management tool that works between two or more directories. It allows you to create advanced, multi-level rules to move, copy, delete, rename, or open files based on their name, extension, size, creation date, and more. Also allows for compression, recursive (all files and subfolders) copy, as well as recycle bin management.
Note: The program processes files based on a variable number of milliseconds. By default, this is set to 3,000,000 milliseconds, or 50 minutes. Modify the Sleeptime under Preferences for more or less frequent changes. For example, for every 24 hours, enter 86,400,000, for every minute, enter 60,000, or for instant change, enter 100.

Drop Zone creates simple windows to quickly manage files. After dropping files or folders onto the program window, a menu of paths you've configured will pop up, allowing you to quickly copy or move files to those destinations. This organization tool is useful for users who deal with many small files or have a short list of frequent folder destinations.
To create multiple drop zones, simply make copies of DropZone.exe, rename them to something unique (e.g. DropZone1.exe, DropZone2.exe, etc.), and launch all. Since the program supports multiple instances, each drop zone can be configured independently.

Ah, right, very good point, that IS handy, to make quick links to your storage folders. You can make a folder on the thumb drive "sort_folder", then make shortcuts to folders within that, then put a shortcut to "sort_folder", but not as easy as this app. Good job in finding an app to make that's somewhat original these days. |

You can choose: which items to list (subdirs, size, date, time, attribs, directory names, directory size, full path, crc32 value); which directories to be included; sort options; selection mask (e.g.: *.mp3).
